My friend and I stayed for two weeks at this hotel one October, it is the most boring hotel we have ever stayed in. We arrived at about midnight and were given a single room with two beds fitted into it, there wasnt even room to walk around them and one was completely in front of the balcony doors so when you were in bed you looked directly out and into someone elses room, we complained and were moved the next day.
The pool area is always half in the shade and as it is quite small the few rows of sunbeds in the sun get taken very quickly, if you are into daily doses of bingo round the pool then this is the place for you. None of the rooms have good views, the room we were moved to overlooked the street and another hotel, the room facilities were ok, we hired a fridge and enjoyed the airconditioning.
The resort was quiet in October so we hired a car for a week and booked into a hotel in Palma for some fun!! All in all too much bingo, and not enough class.

I would rate this as a very clean, friendly hotel with superb staff who are all very well mannered, cheerful and helpful. The hotel is well placed being in the centre of the resort but there is the nuisance of two local pubs competing with each other at night with their entertainment but the hotel is very well situated for shops and the beach. My only concern though is that I do not feel it is suitable for people with small children - or I certainly felt that for several reasons. Please watch the highchairs as I had heard of many kids having near accidents when using them as did mine who fell backwards the first time we put him in (hotel paid for a doctor to make sure he was okay which was fine but still a very scary experience) and there are no "safe" areas for young kids to run about. Being a central hotel, outside space is limited and the so called playground listed in the Thomsons brochure is actually a disgrace - it is a tip across the road, behind a pub, under lock and key and consists of a few wobbly climbing frames. The playroom listed in the Thomsons brochure is actually the kids club and is not suitable for toddlers. I feel misled by the Thomsons brochure. I also felt the balconies were completely unsafe with quite wide gaps between the bars - certainly enough for a toddler to climb through but you can always keep the door shut as we did because of the lovely air-conditioning. Despite sounding negative, I was really impressed by the cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel staff and the older children enjoyed their holiday. The resort itself is very nice and is in a good location for visiting other resorts. On the whole, the holiday was TOP DOLLAR!

I went to the Hotel with my mum last year and it was the best holiday we had ever had!The whole hotel was very clean and the staff helped with any problems we had. The atmospire there was very pleasant, exactly how a holiday is ment to be!The food was very nice and there was many choices of foods which all tasted great! The pool and poolside was rather small but that didnt matter to us at all as the beach was fantasticly beautiful!!!The entertainment was great and so were the bars and restaurants next to the sea.At night the atmosphire was great and peace full on the beach and in the room even though it was rather small! We have already booked our holiday to go this year and cant wait to go!

We have stayed at the Clumba Mar in 1996, 1998 and 2002.
This hotel is excellent value for money. The staff are freindly and helpful, everywhere is spotlessly clean, and the food is good quality. There is a good choice of main courses for the evening meal, so you can always find something you like, and the breakfasts are really superb.
The location is excellent too. Don't be put off by the fact that the hotel is not directly on the beach, it really is only a very short walk of about 3 or 4 minutes, and you will probably end up strolling along the beachfront promenade for much longer than that anyway! You are right in the resort centre at this hotel, it's a much better location that the other hotels Portland use in my opinion.
The beach at C'an Picafort is nice and clean, and shelves very gently into the sea, so it's perfect for kids or less confident swimmers. The water is only about 5 feet deep around 100 feet off the shoreline.
However, one thing we did notice during our stay in 2002 was that the hotel is now exclusive to Portland/Thomson and was much busier than it had been during our previous visits. There were also a lot of kids there this time, and the dining room in particular was quite noisy as a result.
If you have kids, or don't staying in a hotel where a lot of kids are present, this is a great choice and probably the best value you will find anywhere.
