There was only one word to sum up this holiday....immense. OK so the food wasn't spectacular and the rooms were teeny but we still had an amazing time....you dont go on holiday to spend the full time in your room.
The hotel in general was clean enough for me and I suffer from OCD!
The pool was small and there was a battle to get a decent sunbed in the morning, but the beach was really close by so it wasn't that much of a problem.
Food was basic, but kept us alive. Breakfasts were great so stock up then. Not much vegetarian options though, unless you like tomato puree pasta and salad.
The staff were great, all very friendly especially the hotel bar staff.
The entertainer, who freakishly reminded us of 'RAUL' from the Iron Bru adverts, was class, an all round funny guy, great with kids and always seemed to have something planned to keep them entertained.
Great atmosphere in the hotel bar at night. Lots of German and Dutch hotties, all of whom were lovely in both looks and personality. We met lots of great people.
In fact this holiday was so great that my friend and I cried when I arrived back in Glasgow. Would definitely consider coming back.

I read bad reports on this hotel but decided to make my own mind up. God I wish I had listened !!
Upon walking into the hotel being ignored by the reception staff the roof caved in and water came flooding out on to dance floor, what a start! Mind you there was more water there than there was in the bath they called a pool !!
Loved the area though would go back to Arenal but never this hotel unless I was on a 18-20s German holiday !!
After a family of 6 English left after our second day we were the only English there. The entertainment man was good but that was it just one man on his own bless him he did his best.
We were put in a room where nothing worked and if you leant too heavy on the sink it fell off, so we requested to move to a room where the air conditioning worked because god did we need it !! Well we moved and it did work but if left on for more than 10 mins it dripped what a lovely sound to go to sleep to ! and the worst of it was we used their towels to soak up the water and on departing they tried to charge me 6 euros for a dirty towel.
My husband cut his arm on the 3rd day and left blood in his bed we thought they had changed the sheets but no they just turned them round the other way so my husband slept in dirty sheets for the rest of the week. The friends we went with had 3 pairs of shoes stolen out of the room but of course no-one knew anything and weren't really that bothered.
If you choose to do what I did and ignore these comments good luck and take lots of spending money because you are going to need it for days and nights out!!
Good tip the bar right next door is part of the hotel and run by the same people but its not part of the all inclusive but is very nice!! Good luck on your holiday in Isla Dorada. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

All though very clean this is NOT a hotel i would suggest to anyone.The food provided was very bad ,i can only compare it to the kids buffet at a grotty holiday park in blackpool,but we all had to eat it.But you are close to the beach which is your only chance to get a swim as the pool is suitable for no more than 25 at a push.the beach is convienantly seperated into zones,the shallow child friendly beach being the closest which is also where the sewer outlet meets the sea.{the smell can be unbearable}so i suggest you walk ten minutes down the beach to a cleaner part.The staff clearly have a problem with the english as the majority seemed to make a point of treating you badly and showing hostility.A point every one we spoke to agreed with.Evenings i suggest you go out.very small selection of drinks and entertainment a joke,irish bar opposite very good.
over all 1/10 (1 for the a/c in the room}

I recently visited Isla Dorada in Arenal. My first impressions of this hotel was not very good as i had not been to this area and was not used to the quieter holiday! however this holiday was to my satisfaction as i loved the area very close to the beach the people stayin there were very friendly! the staff were very pleasant and although the hotel food was not great you could eat something every night so all inclusive was a good deal as i often found myself eating lunch by the pool bar! i would not reccomend families with young children come here as the food and the hotel is not child friendly but couples and teenagers and also honeymooners will love this resort ! also very nice english pub down the beach front! fabulous going over next year to work . xxx
