We paid extra each day to use La Reserva owned by Protur, and for 30 euros for the family, this provided excellent pools, sunbeds and also included food and beverages...well worth the extra money.

Entertainment in the evening was much better than anything we had seen on previous holidays

All in all an excellent holiday, and we will be back.

The Safari Park is an absolutely brilliant aparthotel, we booked a self catering holiday and upgraded to all inclusive when we arrived.

The whole complex is really clean, rooms are a good size and even the beds are comfortable! We had a large balcony overlooking the pool - lovely pool areas and gardens with loads of sunbeds - we went down about 9.00am every day and there was no problem at all.

The all inclusive option is well worth it - food quality and choice on the whole was very good and I am quite fussy. Breakfast was nice with cereals, fruit, bacon, beans and various sausage plus toast etc. Lots of choice at lunch time either in the restaraunt or the bbq grill (great hot dogs and hamburgers, chips etc) if you just want a snack.

Evening meals were equally nice and there are themed evenings too plus the extra restaraunts you could book for if you fancy a change at no extra cost. Most of the drinks are on draught, wines and beer and fizzy drinks and juices so you just help yourself at mealtimes.

Evening entertainment was mixed, we saw a few good acts and other evenings it was only average. There was a kids disco too each evening. Lots to do and if you're all inclusive most of it is free of charge, bikes, skating, horse riding and more plus the kids clubs.

There is also a biomar spa on site for all you ladies that fancy a treat - the pool is free to use if you are a guest but treatments are extra but well worth it!!

We had a great holiday one of the best hotels we've stayed in and the hotel well deserves its 4****

The hotel is about 10 minutes stroll to the beach or resort centre so not very far at all

Would definately recommned.

This is a huge hotel with over 600 rooms. It is situated in a group of other Protur Hotels which share sports facilties at the club house nearby. You can hire bicycles (deposit only), play minigolf (free with voucher from reception) and lots of other activities.

Our room was large with plenty of wardrobe space and a huge balcony. Unfortunately we overlooked the roof of the dining room. You might be lucky and get a nice view of the pools or be even worse and get a view of the car parks. Although we were self catering the kitchen was not very well equipped. I notice from the 2008 brochure that this hotel will be all inclusive.

There are lots of outdoor swimmings and a small indoor pool which we had to ourselves for half an hour just before it closed.

The hotel has many german guests but the staff on reception generally spoke very good English. There is a spar supermarket just round the corner plus a hypermarket a little further.

The hotel is over 500 metres to the beach of Sa Coma and you have to walk past all the local souvenior shops etc to get there.

We did not bother with the entertainment or food in the hotel as the prices seemed quite expensive compared to what you could get from local restuarants.

I would imagine that this hotel is very busy in the summer season. We went in May and it was very nice and quiet. For our children it was brilliant as they loved the Paradis Park and minigolf. The Paradis Park is meant to be for Protur guests only but no staff ever approached anyone to check and our children would not wear wristbands.

This was our 10th visit to a Protur Hotel and as always we found this hotel immaculately clean. The rooms are cleaned 5 days a week and if you require any extra towels, pillows etc the reception arranges for this quickly. There is a very good indoor pool as well as a covered outdoor pool. Both of these were invaluable at this time of the year as although there are many other outdoor pools, they were too cold in April.

There is a laundry room with 2 washing machines and 2 tumble driers so you need not carry an enormous amount of clothing. Both are reasonable priced.

The restaurant is fantastic value for money. You can buy a meal ticket at the reception and you only pay for children over 7 yrs of age and even then they are charged half price. The food is of a wide variety and is plentiful. However, if you have kids that will only eat fish fingers, chicken nuggets etc then you'd be better off at one of the British Bars that are dotted around outside.

There is plenty to do in the resort. Our kids loved to hire a 'chucklevision' bike and electric scooter. All are available for hire. The mini golf in the hotel is absolutely beautiful and would put any gardener to shame.

The childrens club is mainly demonated by German children but the entertainers all speak English. They were all very friendly and do their best to include everyone.

In the evening there is a mini disco for the children followed by a show. This can either be a magic show, dancing or a musical production by the entertainment team. This is quite dreadful but my kids enjoyed it and they were trying their best.

Nearby there is a huge hypermarket where you can buy anything you need. The local Spar is handy and the man who runs this is very helpful and speaks good English.

On several occasions we have hired a car. This is a great way to get around and you have a fantastic choice of beautiful beaches within a short distance.

Really, I can rate the resort high enough. We return year after year as we can never find other accommodation that compairs to the standards of the Protur chain.

If you would prefer a smaller hotel then the Vista Badia (opposite)would be for you.

For anyone who wants to book directly then check out their website at www.protur-hotels.com

The Safari apartments are really good value.

It is excellent 4* accommodation. We went half board but you could upgrade to all inclusive.

There is plenty of room for a family, 1 twin bedroom and 2 large sofa beds in the lounge. The kitchen has a microwave and plenty of plates etc. The bathroom is large with a hairdryer.

The food was good, plenty to choose from. It does get busy in the buffet area.

The pool area can be busy. This is a large hotel and the people who stay here are mostly German, we did not find this a problem. The entertainment is good so my kids told me, they would stay and watch most evenings. The bar area closes about 1am, and everyone is quiet when leaving.

There are 3, 18 hole mini golf courses at the back of the Safari and are free to guests staying there. Just go to reception and give them your room number and they will give you a slip to hand in at the golf bar.

When we were there the new swimming pool area opened it was free on the day of opening. It was a lagoon style pool with a few slides and pool bar. You do have to pay to use it but it is discounted to Safari guests and all your food is included. It looked quite expensive but people who went said the food was really good.

Overall it is a great place to stay, we went last year (2005) and we are thinking of going again in 2007. My teenager girls love it here they feel safe and love mixing with all the other nationalities.

The Safari Apartments are in a block of other Profur hotels in an area about 400 yards from the beach. It is a huge complex.

There are 2 large main pools and a separate pool for water polo etc, and several kiddies pools dotted about. There are hundreds of sun-beds and we never had a problem getting them.

The apartments are clean tidy and well maintained.

We ate breakfast which was 8 euros each. You can upgrade to all inclusive for 30 euros each.

The waterpark which is brand new is at the back of the Safari. It is 16 euros for guests. It is superb value as all the food and drink is inclusive, cold buffet breakfast, cooked lunch, chicken, steaks, salads, pasta, etc etc, cakes in the afternoon. Beer, wine, cocktails. They only allow in 200 people so you are guaranteed a bed, there are no big slides, the kiddies area is excellent with a very gently sliding depth from 1" to about 12". There is a swim up bar were you can drink sit on stools in water and drink cocktails in the sun, marvellous!!!

The resort of Sa Coma is typically Mallorcan, with the usual Kings Head, White Lion etc etc. Beach is long and sea is gently shelving, did not see any jelly fish.
Best place to eat is Salvator's just outside complex. Also had a nice meal at Chicago's which is in Cala Millor.

Overall an excellent place, there are a lot of Germans on all inclusive packages, but this helped with the overall standard of hotel, there was a refreshing total lack of drunkenness and rowdiness with older teenagers/tattooed brigade that you get with inclusive British hotels.

Travelled 27th august for 11 nights holiday through Portland, this is a very nice looking hotel 5 floors we were on the 3rd floor, there are 2 lifts from the reception to all the floors, they were always busy, there are also more lifts around the hotel going to the pool.

To get to our room from the reception lift took 292 steps, when you are carrying food from the shops back to your room it seems like a long way.

The room it self was very nice with a pool view ( except we had a big palm tree right in front of our balcony.

The pool area itself :-well you have 2 large pools that mix into 1 also a toddler pool, the sunbeds are 3-4 deep bed to bed and about 12" away from the pool, and they are always full, so if you have children who are not excellent swimmers its very hard to keep a watchful eye on them.

We only used the pool once, did not like the being cramped in with all the beds, so we used the pool across the road at the Sa Coma Playa very quiet loads of space felt like the pool was our own private pool!

Over all we would not go back to the hotel because it has too many rooms 90% German who stay all-inclusive and they never seem to leave the hotel, so it is constantly busy.

We as a family like to go self catering so we can experience more of our holiday but we sometimes do like to use the hotel facilities, we did not feel we could do this at this hotel due to large number all-inclusive people who were always there first!!!

I suppose my main complaint should be to Portland holidays for not informing me that this hotel mainly caters for the all-inclusive..............

This is a huge hotel with a predominantly German clientele who stay All Inclusive. Can't fault the rooms, there was ample room for two adults, two children 13 and 10 and our 1 year old baby. The air conditioning was a Godsend. The public areas were brilliant.

My only gripe was the pool area. There were far too many sunbeds, so close together that it was a struggle to get around with a pushchair. They are so close to the pool that you have to walk around for ages to find a gap to squeeze through to actually get in the pool. The pool was very crowded, why do the Germans insist on throwing balls at each other in the pool when there's barely enough space to stretch your arms out. We preferred to walk across the road and use the facilities of the Sa Coma Playa which had a much nicer pool and terrace. We didn't see much of the entertainment as by time we got back from our Evening meal out there was nowhere to sit so we didn't bother. I wasn't too impressed with the bits I did see though.

The hotel even has a self service laundry, 3 euros for a wash and 2 euros for 44 minutes drying time.

If you like big, busy hotels and don't mind crowds you'll love it. If, like us, you prefer somewhere a smaller and like to do things independently then the Safari isn't for you. I love a hotel with lots of different nationalities but the British are a tiny minority here and because it's so big you don't tend to see the same people twice. We were fine but our children struggled to find friends who spoke English.

Absolutely loved the resort, the beach is fab and we didn't have a bad meal the whole 2 weeks. Will go back to Sa Coma but not the Safari, probably stay in the Sa Coma Playa next time.

This accommodation was one of the best we have stayed in, very clean, excellent location and absolutely fantastic for kids, so much to offer (free park behind the complex with Waterside, swings, car rides, toilets, climbing frames) also on the complex is 3 separate 18 hole crazy golf courses and a small boating lake for the children.

The swimming pools are all excellent for the family and a good temperature as well. The evening entertainment was very good and varied, something for all 8.30 - 9.30 was the children

We stayed at the Safari Park between 25th June and 6th July. The hotel itself was clean but we were very disapointed to find our room was only cleaned every three days. When I asked for clean towels it took two hours for them to arrive.

I did complain about the room being left uncleaned for three days with no clean towels or toilet roll but it made no difference. The staff weren't to helpful although they did seem to put themselves out for the germans who occupy 98% of the hotel and all stay all inclusive. The entertainment was mainly run by the hotels entertainers, so was attrocious.

A few times there were professional shows which were watchable to say the least. The pools were extremely busy to the point that you could not stretch your arms in the pool as you would be touching somebody, and all of the very closely crammed together sunbeds were occupied by 9am. The kids clubs were unusable for my eldest daughter aged 8 as all the children who attended were german and she felt left out, so didn't go.

The pools are very deep with no shallow end which isn't to good for the children who are to old for the small pools. The Paradis Park which is free to all guests situated at the back of the hotel is good as there pool has a slide and there are also free trampolines for the kids.

We opted to use the hotels pool across the road at the Playa hotel which was lovely and the kids reps were great with the kids as well.As we were self catering we ate ar the Royal Oak most nights as the food is excellent and very reasonably priced with a huge choice. The hotel is situated about 10 mins walk from the beach which wasn't to busy and very nice.

I wouldn't use this hotel again as there weren't enough English guests and it was far to crammed around the pool area. I was also very disapointed with the room not being cleaned often enough, for a 4* hotel it was a disgrace.
