Arrived home from the Menorca Sea Club last night (25th July 2003). Although we enjoyed our holiday there were many aspects that disappointed me after places we have stayed in the past.
Firstly the trip from the airport was a real drag which was made worse by the fact that we seemed to be dropping off at all the busier places and it felt like the MSC was in the middle of nowhere. When we arrived at 10p.m. we were all starving, we couldn't believe how small the restaurant was for the 140 apartments that they advertise, and we were ushered downstairs to catch the pizza place b4 it closed.
We were told by the rep on the coach it was about a 20 minute walk to shops/bars etc. It was about that but it felt alot longer in the heat.
The entertainment was ridiculous. One night was a clown, one night a party complete with musical bumps!! We have children of 5 and 7 who thought it was fantastic, but as in past hotels I was expecting entertainment around 8 ish for the kids and then something for parents later on - no such luck.
I was extremely disappointed with the fact that because it was getting to the busier season they had started to limit the kids club places - 30 places. To get your children in u had to queue in reception at 5p.m. the day b4 to put their names down or they didn't get in. I understand that there has to be limits because of adult:child ratios, but in a complex of 140 apartments 30 places is terrible.
I also was stunned on Thursday, the rep John announced over the mike that reserving sunbeds with towels was not allowed and that they were going to go around and remove any towels that did not have people on them so if u were in the pool get out quick. They then went around and folded up all the towels and took them to reception. There is no beach near MSC so if u don't get around the pool then don't know where u r supposed to go.
In my opinion they need to cater for more guests i.e. more sunbeds, more kids club places. and they really need to sort out the night time entertainment - it was a joke!! Also at night the kids took all the chairs and sat down in front of the stage so if u came back after a meal to watch the show u had to sit on the pool sunbeds to watch the show.
The apartments were lovely and cool - apparently they r the only apartments with air conditioning - but the maid only visited twice in 11 days.
While we were there the water and electricity went off from 10pm to 1.30a.m one night - the whole town went off!!!
We didn't have a bad holiday, they were just things that niggled me and I felt could have made the holiday better. Was my first visit to Menorca and I certainly wouldn't go back.

I am just back from Menorca Sea Club apartments, overall it was an enjoyable holiday. The beaches were very hard to find and once you got there it was a bit of an anti-climax, they were very small. But if you were prepared to walk you could go to Cala n brut beach, there was a diving place near there with crystal clear water and lots of nice fish to look at through snorkels, once you were in. The sea was nice and warm with no waves.
The apartments were quite nice, but some were quite noisy. luckily we got moved to a quieter bit. we were in room 121! :D the entertainment wasnt bad. The pools were brilliant. The tv room was ok but then a gang of young ppl vandalised it! and we cudnt go in until they all went home and by then we were going home... Dont get me wrong though its a perfect spot for families. It is about a 10 minute walk from the main town and be careful u dont get lost coz we did and ended up walking an extra 3 miles or so... inspiration, such and aggrevation....laahhh cudnt be bothered writing more, enjoy ur holiday

Went on holiday August 2002 with quite a big party group, with childrens ages varying from 2-15yrs old. Had a fab time. The reception staff were wonderful and spoke excellent english, so did the bar staff. The kids clubs were really good, and the children enjoyed going. We were situated just outside the main resort which was ideal - no noise from neighbouring hotels!! The bar closed at 1am and the entertainment finished at 12midnight which was really good. The entertainment could have been a little better - but all the kids enjoyed it. All the residents were really friendly and everyone seemed to get on. If you didnt have kids you wouldnt go!! A must is the local bus into Cuitadela - 10 mins ride into the old capital which is lovely and you can eat on the harbour and admire all the boats.
A fab time was had by all - definitely return. (only to buy a villa!!)

I should have posted to this site on my return from holiday in July. This was a terrific family holiday. Kids club was great, staff fine, good swimming pools, and a terrific view of the sunset at night from the cliffs nearby. Nightly entertainment for kids and adults alike. Its a bit of a walk into Cala n Forcat but that's not much to complain about. (Just tried - and failed - to get booked for the coming summer [flight full] and little availability at complex).

Date of holiday : June 2002. Ages 39,35,4,1.
This apartment block was kept extremely clean. Perfect for young families (not so sure whether good for older kids(teens)). Air conditioning in rooms perfect for a good nights sleep. Entertainment always stopped before 12:00. 3 pools of varying depths. Plenty of room for evryone and no lack of sunbeds. Kids club reps very good - Always had to sign kids in and out before they were 'released'. Games arranged throughout afternoons. Onsite pizzeria very good (and do takeaway if rqd). You do need a buggy for toddlers though, as 15 minute walk into town. Lack of nice beach in resort was the one negative aspect - beware hiring sunbeds on Cala Blanes beach - bed= 8 euros, brolly=6 euros per day (we bought mats and brolly for less). Overall recommended but not for beach lovers.
