We agree with the Morgans that the Playa Azul was a lovely place to spend a holiday in Cala 'n Porter. We went during August 2002 after taking a last minute booking from First Choice. We had no idea where we would be staying and this was quite worrying when you're speeding through dark lanes in the middle of the night. On arrival (abour 1 am) we looked out from our balcony on the 3rd floor and couldn't see anything at all. We could however, hear the sea and went to sleep relatively satisfied. We awoke to a perfect sunny morning to a wonderful view of the hills and beach (a long way down the steps but who cares!
Our two children (12 and 15) enjoyed their stay there and spent most of the day either in the sea or in the pool. We have been to Menorca twice previously and didnt feel the need to do too much sightseeing so we only hired a car for one day to visit the waterpark on the other side of the island (overrated) and Alayor on the evening for their wonderful festival - unbelievable fireworks and atmosphere. This made the holiday one of the most relaxing we ever spent, not feeling the need to drive out every day.
Food was plentiful and varied (paella twice a week - mmmm) - some folks were having a moan that there wasn't enough veggie options but we thought it was fine. Self service, although waiting staff came round to serve wine if required. Lovely bottle of good Rioja (sorry about spelling) for around
