Resort was very clean-people go around picking up all the litter left by the tourists! However, shocked to discover that away from the beach where there is a nice nature area with herons, ducks etc, people use the place as a toilet!!
There was also dog poo lying around the streets. Beach very good - very safe and very gentle slope out to sea. If you are reasonably fit steps down to beach not a problem and can always walk aound and down: easy!!
Resort area entertainment very poor/very disappointing! A total lack of Menorcan/ Spanish music/dancing-just crap karaoke, pop songs. Too many awful British/Irish style pubs/bars. Public transport relatively poor and inadequate for number of holidyamakers.
Would not visit again because we like to sample the local culture: music, dancing, arts, crafts, history, buildings, and in Calan Porter there is no trace of anything, only the pseudo tourist crap! However, we did enjoy our last minute cheap and easy holiday. It all depends on what you want.

Wouldnt stay in resort again as it was to quiet and the weather wasn't very good.

in the resort it was quite and you have to walk miles to get to the shops

Very small. Very quiet. good if you like that kind of thing (I actually thought it was quite OK. I couldn't understand why a noisy place such as Bahia Park was there as was totally inappropriate. Would I go there again - probably not. I saw nicer places elsewhere in Minorca.

Nice beach but about 189 steps to get there, not many shops couple of good pubs with great entertainment every night, very quiet but nice overall.

Just retuned from a 12 day, fantastic family holiday at Siestamar 2 apartments.
The apartment was clean, and comfortable, and serviced every 2 days - need I say more. My 3 children (14, 9 and 5) thoroughly enjoyed themselves and I have to say me and my husband actually feel as though we have had a holiday too! (First holiday we have been on that we were disappointed to leave).
Kids did not make use of the Thomson kids club; they were more than happy to splash about in the pool most days. If you prefer a more relaxing holiday, I would advise Siestamar 2. Although you have to pay 3 Euros per day for a sun bed, it is well worth it - no queuing to grab a bed and the bed is yours all day. You still get all the action available at Siestamar 1, without being right on top of it.
Cala n Porter is such a wonderful safe resort, but more suited to families as there would not be much for those out there more interested in getting completely drunk and causing aggro. We were more than happy to allow our 14 year old daughter out with friends that she had made until 12 o'clock.
I have to say that with regard to the food and waiters at Siestamar, the food was not up to much and the waiters were a bit 'off'. But just take a walk 2 minutes down the road and you will find fantastic food and friendly service. Would have to recommend Salamandras and The Bridge for value for money with great food and service.
Also the hotel reps were not great either, more interested in getting you on the overpriced excursions than anything else. And the welcome meeting is so boring - don't bother.
If you need to know anything or need anything just go to reception, read the Thomson brochures there, or speak to the very helpful reception staff and save your valuable holiday time. The beach is great and well worth the trek, the steps are a huge effort to ascend, laden with buckets, spades etc - and be prepared to part with 17 Euros for 2 sun beds and a parasol. Supermarkets at the resort were overpriced but everything you need.
We went on a Thomson trip to the Aqua Park and had a wonderful day, although quite expensive. If you are brave enough to hire a car to save money it would be well worth it! We also took a bus to Mahon which was very straightforward, and a pleasure.
Summing up, nice safe, family oriented resort. But not an action packed place, and had the weather been not so great, wonder if we would have been able to keep kids amused (as well as ourselves) for 12 days, but maybe that’s when the kids club comes into its own. We are not complaining though, we WERE lucky, and have to admit even contemplated buying an apartment on the site!
I would add that my sister and her family joined us halfway through the holiday staying at Siestamar 1, and were not quite as happy as us, remarking that she wished she had opted for Siestamar 2 apartments, which were far better furnished and sited.

The beach was only 10 mins walk away but there were lots of steps, ok going down but a killer getting back up, although there was a free bus to take you from the hotel, entertainment was ok at the hotel for the kiddies, but we chose to go into town where it was a bit more lively with live entertainment although it all stopped by 12 midnight, but was fine we could get a goodnights sleep ready for the next day. overall the holiday was perfect for us we had a chilled relaxing holiday, we would definately go back there again.

Cala'n Porter approx 15mins from airport.
Very little flight noise if any.Approx 4 grocery shops providing a good range of familiar products. A nice selection of tourist shops.
Shop around for best prices.
Fantastic Chinese restaurant highly recomended just off main street.Other restaurants fair/good,whole resort was very much catering for the british market.
Children loved the adventure playground (nightly).
Beach reached by approx 190 steps.Beach a little crowded near the front. Personal space could be an issue, sea shallow and safe for children. Beach clean. Good

Cala en Porter is a very quiet resort with most things shut at 2300 hrs. However Salamanders and Flavas in the main street are open as long as required. I was a bit frustrated with how quiet the resort was at first, then learned to relax later on and enjoy it. The resort was VERY expensive which meant it was impossible to eat out every night. There seemed to be very little entertainment in the actual town apart from Sa Passai's music night, where they had a different 'tribute' act every night in the centre of town.
The beach was flawless and HAS to be visited.
I would visit again.
