Some staff were friendly others not so.
Entertainment again did not reach the same standards as our previous visit.

Will return again for our winter holiday next year.

Outdoor pools lovely, cool but not freezing & pool police stop people from reserving sunbeds, excellent!
Cannot fault the quality or presentation of the food, breakfast is lovely, bacon & eggs (boiled & fried) every day plus a variety of other hot & cold dishes. Lots of salad, fruit & bread at lunch & dinner but the pasta dishes were bland and usually there was a choice of fried fish, stewed seafood & fried chicken or steak, seafood pizza, french mash & french fries. One day had lovely roast garlic chicken, but for me it was a bit repetative as I don't eat seafood but my husband was happy.
Hotel on top of steep hill - beach bus fairly regular during day but only dropped to bottom of hill - not to the small town area wich is about 20 min extra walk (very hot).
Staff were helpful - entertainment guys were great dancing & playing games round the pools but the evening entertainment wasn't great & was difficult as mainly German & French guests so English was only briefly translated.

However I am pleased to say we have a fantastic holiday, the Hotel is a large complex and caters for families and couples - entertainment crew were very encouraging during the day put not atall pushy.
The kids club came highly recommended from the families we chatted to, however our little one is only 3 so we felt he was too young to attend on this occasion.
Food was varied and there was always plenty to choose from, I would say that after 2 weeks though it did become slighty repetitive but eating out in Morre Jable for a change we would definitely recommend.
Rooms were clean, maid service every day - wasn't much room for a family to manouver in, however we didn't spend much time in the room so it didn't bother us.
We would recommend 2 trips the Oasis Park and the Submarine, the submarine is a bit on the pricey side but its un-believable and an experience you would never forget.
Hotel in on a steep hill, even going down isn't easy its the kind of hill you run down without intending to do so !!, however there is a bus which drops you at the bottom of the hill and will pick you up again - fairly reliable service.
All in all extremley pleased and would definitely book again.

The hotel is up a vey steep hill and in the heat which was sometimes 40 degrees quite a challenge but the taxies are cheap so use them.
Most of the hotel staff are very nice some of the reception staff think that they are better than all the others but you really dont need to use the reception that often.
Entertainment is there if you want it but there are choices very all.

My husband and I found no complaints about the food ,it was wonderful loads to chooose from.
We had a great room over looking the pool area, our room was very big ,huge bathroom .We did visit the beach a few times which is fantastic , we ventured the hill back up to the hotel a couple of times which is a killer but well worth it.
We found the hotel staff varied some were very friendly others wouldnt pass the time of day .
We didnt really bother with the entertainment it was nice up in the foyer when a pianist was playing.

What we actually found was a fantastic hotel with great staff who were happy to help day and night and were smart and well presented at any time.
The hotel boasts three pools one heated but you don't need it in june as the weather is fine and the other pools were warm enough anyway!!!
All in all we would recomend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a four star service. Jandia town is a prodominantly german resort but there is an english bar, but you are made more than welcome in any of the towns bars...
The hill on the other hand is not good for anyone with any walking difficulties as it is very very steep but a taxi to the town is only about three euro's.

Overall, I thought this hotel and all its facilities were of exceptional quality. The only problem was the location of the hotel, I have seen steep hills before, but this one is particularly cruel. Unfortunately, the hotel bus wasn't as reliable as it should be, but, as the prices of taxis are so cheap, the obvious answer is to use taxis to and from the hotel.
I personally would not visit this hotel again, I would go back to my favourite place the Barcelo at Costa Caletta.

The Hotel was very, very clean and the bar staff always happy to help.
We went all inclusive and the food was lovely, we always go all inclusive and it has to be said that this hotel catered for every nationality. There was something for everyone! They even had pureed food for the very young children!
Rooms were gorgeous and cleaned every day by happy staff.
The Activities during the day were great, there is so much to do if you want it, equally, they leave you alone if you don't want to join in. In fact my husband and i have booked to go back to this hotel for February 2006 and can't wait. As far as we are concerned this is a 5* hotel with 5* service!

On entering the dining area (although very nice) the scene was reminiscent of a cattle market. Seating proves difficult the later you enter for lunch and dinner in particular. On closer observation, the cleanliness of the dining seats can be disgusting. The main problem apart from the inappropriate size of the dining room and serving area is consumer fussiness. Too many picky people created a bottleneck in the queue by demanding every food item fresh from the chef's knife. The mountains of food in the hot plates was good enough for the majority including my family and I. To avoid an unnecessary long wait just walk past the fussy ones to a less busy hot plate. The food itself was very good and healthy in its variety. The drink pumps are a bit unpredictable so be careful of getting a good soaking!
The 2 pool areas are very pleasing on the eye. Don't bother reserving any beds with towels prior to 1100hrs unattended or the hotel management/security will correctly remove them. What a laugh seeing irate selfish people reading their 'report to reception' notices to collect their belongings. Both pools are too cold in my opinion, especially the lower one.
The pool snack bar is very good and all the food is covered except when stupid people don't replace the covers. Don't blame the birds! The chap (George Clooney's elder brother) normally serves at this bar and is so miserable my daughter and I nicknamed him Mr Grumpy Drawers. Try a smile and a Hola mate?
The pool area itself is good with lots of activities for both adults and kids. This is ruined at times by the mess left by some of the smoking population who chain smoke all day long polluting our non-smoking lungs. What about a non-smoking pool area Barcelo?
The rooms are comfortable, clean and practical but I expected a little more. Remember, when you open your sliding door this stops the re-con from working. Most rooms will not have a sea view due to the Barcelo Playa being located in front of the Jandia Mar. We popped into the Playa a few times as I believe this is permitted although they didn't notice our Jandia Mar wrist-bands for the AI (thanks for the drinks).
Most staff are very nice with the odd cheeky person. Our cleaner was lovely and deserved the tip!
The hotel isn't really in a resort. It's on a hefty hill which leads down to the beach. The hotel runs a bus every half hour or so. The shops are about a 20-30 minute walk away or a 3 Euro taxi ride away!
Evening entertainment is OK with singers at the piano bar and a family concert most evenings. Ignore the mini-golf as some madman at reception wanted 42 Euros for us to play with no guarantee about a deposit return. There's a good mini-golf downtown which is well priced and the girl who runs it is lovely!
The shops in Jandia are a bit Benidorm like and not as good in their variety as those north of the island. The beaches as expected were nice but again ruined at times by the mess left behind by some of the smokers (cleaner and quieter further north).
On leaving I found the airport to be comfortable with not over-inflated prices for refreshments. What a change! All in all a good holiday with minor complaints which if Barcelo take note could be easily rectified.
We're off to the Club Rui Gran Canaria Resort near Maspalomas next August. No doubt the smoking policy will be dreadful there too which leads us towards resorting back to hiring villas in the future. Hope this is helpful.
Hasta la Vista!
Darren.
