We stayed at the Gloria Palace Royal for one week in March, after a recommendation from a friend. Our only complaint was the noise from the road, which isn't really the fault of the hotel.
The hotel is split in to four blocks, and we were in block 4 which is nearest to the centre of the resort and the lift down to the beach. We think this is probably why we were affected by the noise as there was a roundabout at that end of the hotel, so all the vehicles were braking or accelerating away from it.
On arrival we were greeted by friendly staff and a glass of champagne.
The hotels spa facilities looked good, although we didn't use them as the weather was great. The infinity pool is amazing, a really good size and heated (I didn't believe it was at first, until I tried the other pool brrrr!!!!!).
We stayed half board, and the food was very good. Personally I preferred the breakfasts, I thought they were fabulous. The food for both meals was buffet style, and there was absolutely loads of it. For the evening meal, there was a different theme every night, although they didn't always pull it off e.g. on the Italian night they had "russian salad" on the salad bar, but that didn't bother us. As we were half board, all drinks were chargeable with the evening meal.
The hotel was very clean both in the public areas and in the room we had. The room itself was great, plenty of wardrobe space and there was also a small sink, fridge and full set of plates, cutlery etc... should you want to make your own meals. The bathroom was also a good size with separate shower an bath, and bathrobes/slippers provided.
We didn't really bother with the entertainment as we were taking a quick break to escape the madness of work. However there was a lounge area that had something on every night. We tended to go and sit in reception on the comfy sofa's, where there was usually a pianist or other musician playing.
For those who like to go to the beach, it was a 5-10min walk depending on how fast you go. I would guess that every room in the hotel would have a beach view.... it was certainly very nice opening the curtains every day and seeing it.
There was a little spar shop just opposite the hotel, and there was also a snack bar and a la carte restaurant in the hotel itself.

Hotel tip: Ask for a room in Block 1. Walk to puerto rico and then take the boat to puerto mogan for the day.
