The resort of Meloneras is quite small but is next to Maspalomas. The beach in Meloneras is a stone beach and a bit rocky. Maspalomas sand dunes are spotless and have won the blue flag award for years and years. The beach parasols and loungers are reasonable in price and there are many snack bars and restaurants overlooking the beach. The people who work in them can be a little overzealous in trying to get yopur custom, but it's still relaxed and friendly.
Taxis to Playa Del Ingles are cheap enough if you want more entertainment and water sports. I would liken Playa Del Ingles is liked to Blackpool but warmer!
All in all, the resort and the people are fantastic.

The resort was kept clean and had a lovely promenade stretching from the hotel to melonaras lighthouse with several bars, resteraunts and shopping centre in between.

The beach below the hotel wasnt the best, with lots of rocks, which could be dangerous with small children, however we was told that there are plans to cleans it up and import sand to make the beach better in the future.

The beach at playa des ingles was much better, although the sea is rough enough in parts to surf.

Overall melloneras is probably about 2 years from being fully developed but we would still not hesitate in going there before then again.

Meloneras is a very chique place all the well known branded clothing companies are available in the shopping centres and perfumeries.
We had a great week here and the weather was glorious for the time of year (early Decemeber)
To the left of the beach is a lively area of shops etc and carryon walking you come to Maspalomas (Tacky!) We turned around immediately.
If you go right you will come across a small area with a lovely beach and resturants. All are good food and the waiters are good fun and don't hassel you much.

Melonares is a quiet laidback resort, very clean but found the beach to be a bit stony, especially at the waters edge.

However, Maspalomas was a quiet but busy resort, plenty of bars and restaurants offering good quality food, and shops galore.

Will visit again in the future.

Meloneras is going to be a lovely resort in time, (we plan to go back in about three or four years) as there is a golf course currently being built and a newly opened shopping centre,(but most of the units are empty just now!) nice beach, and lovely promenade that takes you along to maspalomas and the sand dunes!

There are six or seven nice restaurants down on the promenade, a good setting for an evening meal and watching the sun set!

It is still very quiet there just now, but I expect it to get much busier in the next few years.

A I have said above Meloneras is a new resort and has little night life (yet) The stroll to the lightouse area (15mins) is delightful. There you have all the usual facilities shops food supermacardos etc Meloneras and the lightouse area are for grown-ups with no discos blaring out all over the place. Lots of live entertainment and fantastic restaurants If you have young children though, there is not much for them to do.

Meloneras is west of Playa del Ingles/Maspalomas and is quieter than these resorts, although Maspalomas with its bars, restaurants and shops is only a short walk away along the wide path beside the sea.

Meloneras has a number of restaurants adjacent to what will be a large shopping area. It all looked clean and new, although there was a lot of building going on. It looks as though it will be the upmarket end of these resorts.
