We booked this then realised we had chosen the wrong hotel. Oops. It was in a quiet residential area (except for the yappy dog that stayed in one of the houses behind our apt). I heard neighbours closing the window to shut out noise. The apartments were bright & clean & maid was very friendly. Sun & Wed off. Usual towel & linen change.
Some of the pool bar staff were not so friendly, we were in a few times for snacks & meals which were great, sometimes we got a smile & sometimes we were ignored, got the impression at times that it was too much trouble to serve, not just us though, we saw it happening to others, if you want a takeaway from the pool bar you have to take your own plates from the apt.
We had no views as such, in front was the pool & bar (which closed at 10 pm when we were there). At the back was the residential area. Apartments were pretty quiet when we arrived but after a few days apartments started filling up. This let us know just how bad the soundproofing is. I heard entire conversations from left & right, I heard kettles being filled & toasters popping, and don’t get me started on the scraping furniture! I even had my mp3 on during the night & still heard noise when people returned at 1, 2, and 3 in the morning. When you can hear noise from 2 apartments left 2 apartments right & 4 apartments below then it does get annoying. I knew other people must be able to hear us too so tried to stay as quiet as possible.
The stroll in to Matagorda is pleasant & takes about 7 minutes, nothing like 15 as someone suggested. We sat at the beach front a lot, it was much quieter than the balcony. The airport is very close but I must say the noise from that didn't bother us at all.
All in all this is a great wee place, all it needs is noise insulation. If you think the noise would bother you then stay away from these apts. Matagorda itself is wonderful, I loved it. There are a variety of cafes & restaurants some better than others but all very reasonably priced except for the Anchor bar, the prices in here were a rip off. Most bars close around midnight. I will take care next time to book the right hotel, but for me just because of the noise I wouldn't go back. Sorry to be such a moan but it was bad bad bad.

Apartments were clean with towels changed every day apart from Sunday and Wednesday.
Bed linen was changed once a week. When we arrived after 9pm there was no-one at reception infact it was closed our keys where placed under the mat outside the room, although they did leave us water in the apartment for our late arrival which was nice.
It was about 15minutes to walk into the centre of Matagorda. There was no entertainment at the apartments and the bar closes at 11pm which doesn't give you a chance to mingle with other guests.

It was good value for money, very basic but had everything you needed. There was no entertainment and the reception is only open limited hours. There is a small bar that closes at 9pm.
Rooms were adequate and we had top floor end apartment which benefited from a large balcony. The other balconies appeared to be very small and would necesitate using the pool area.
Pool is small and kiddies pool has most of the paint missing off the bottom. There is no play area or anywhere for children.
