Our room - bungalow was fine. All still new from refurbishment. We had never been on all inclusive before but decided to give it a try- never again. Day 4- severe vomiting started for me - later we found out that several other people were ill. My husband went to seek advice from a pharmacy because I could not stop vomiting 8 hours after it started. Hotel sent a cleaning lady to go though our room and bathroom with bleach for which we were grateful.. I ate and drank very little for the remainder of our holiday and felt very weak. By day 6 my husband was also ill with stomach cramps and diarrhoea . Worrying situation with both of us not well and needing to travel. We travelled home on empty stomachs - we did not dare eat anything.
The reps completed forms for us regarding our sickness - but it was concerning to see new guests arriving- including children and the elderly. When we arrived home I read a review very similar to our experience which had been written by a German guest of the hotel the week before our holiday.
The standard of hygiene in the main restaurant was concerning - placemats were stained and crockery, cutlery and glassware were not spotlessly clean. We witnessed staff of all levels using grubby cloths to wipe down surfaces - tables, chairs even the serving counter beneath the buffet food. The young waiting staff have obviously been told to clear tables as quickly as possible - so as soon as you stop eating plates etc are wisked away -piled on top of each other often falling crashing to the floor. The noise form the dishwasher area is constant and only separated from the dining hall by a curtain for stopping insects. We felt we were in a large canteen not a restaurant and certainly not in a 4* hotel. It was not the experience we had expected.
The grounds are watered with effluent to fertilise the plants - a good practice but unfortunately the spray nozzles are above not below ground so there is a smell in the air. This is not very sensible as there are potentially harmful microbes being released into the air where people are walking.
I have written to Tui and to the hotel management but as yet I have not received any reply.

My partner and I stayed here for half term week 27 Oct - 3 Nov. This is the 4th time we have been to Lanzarote and the 3rd time staying in Playa Blanca.
We arrived after a 35 minute private taxi journey (40 euros) at about 8.15pm. The lady on reception spoke excellent English and hurried us down to the restaurant before it closed at 9pm. This was a nice gesture and the Reception staff continued to be helpful, polite and informative throughout our stay.
We had a 1 bedroom bungalow, lovely and spacious. Bedroom (air con), bathroom, kitchen, living area and large terrace. The rooms need a bit of modernisation but are kept very clean with clean bedding and towels. The air con was good. We hired a safe 14 euros a week or 2.10euros a day with a 10 euro deposit. Rooms are cleaned every day except Friday. We asked for a kettle which was provided at no extra charge.
Pool is good; although cold it didn't put the children off (or adults). Some of the sunbeds need replacing. You can hire pool towels for a 10 euro deposit.
The food is what lets this hotel down. The food is very average. We are certainly not fussy eaters but the quality was very poor. There is quite a good choice but the meats are very cheap, fatty and very salty. They failed to label the dishes on many occasions, so you weren’t always sure what you were eating. Breakfast was probably the best meal. We actually ate out 3 times on this holiday, just so we could have a meal that tasted of something!
The bars selection of drinks was very good. They had the usual local spirits and beer, wine but also did a daily cocktail, Cava and sangria. There were also a couple of water dispensers about too. Wine was available on tap in the restaurant and the white wine wasn't bad.
The staff are really friendly at this hotel. Cleaners, waiters etc all say hello.
The entertainment was the usual holiday type stuff; we didn't really watch any of the evening shows specifically as we sat away from the main stage area. Charlie, the entertainment guy was a noticeable figure during the day and was great with the kids organising football games. It seemed a 'toned down' programme for the winter season however.
The beach is an easy 5 minute walk away and the main resort/town about 10-15 minutes away, very pleasant along the promenade.
Wi-Fi is available by the reception area. On our last day we weren’t leaving until 5pm but the hotel does provide you with a room to shower in, you just have to book a slot the morning you check out.
We were disappointed to have our All Inclusive wristbands taken off us as we checked out at midday This is only the 2nd time this has EVER happened during any AI holiday we have been on. I think this is VERY poor practise. It certainly wasn’t made clear on check in. How much do they think you’re going to eat and drink in 4 hours before you leave. I wouldn't stay at this chain of hotels again for that reason. We have been to Turkey 4 times in the past 2 years and this has never happened. Ironically we paid for a full days use of the safety deposit box on our last day but only used it for half of that day but didn't ask for half our money back for that! But that's us just being picky!
On the whole this was a cheap(ish) budget hotel. It was nice enough for a week’s winter break but I have stayed in much better hotels for slightly less money. It is true you get what you pay for! We had an enjoyable holiday.

The room was very spacious with a lovely terraced area. It was clean but not 4* quality, in need of updating. The doors and windows on the room did not fit properly and you could see outside and in places fit your fingers through the gaps. We did complain and the manager was very helpful. He showed us another 4 rooms but to be honest all the rooms we saw were the same.
The hotel is situated on a quiet road with an approx 5 minute walk to the nearest beach. The main beach is approx 30 minutes away along a pretty paved coastal walkway. The food at the hotel is very samey but although I have 2 fussy eaters there was never a day they could find nothing to eat. Most staff were very friendly but the odd one or two were a bit less friendly depending on your nationality. However, many of the guests queuing at the bar were less than polite so maybe the bar staff were justified to behave the same way. We had no problem getting more than one drink at the bar and please and thank you go a long way!
We paid a very reasonable amount for 10 nights at this hotel and although I did not feel it was 4*, We didn’t pay 4* prices so no complaints. We would visit again. The most impressive part of the hotel is the pool area. It is very spacious and well designed with heaps of beds and none of the silly running down at 5am to put a towel down. Any time of the day we turned up at the pool we managed to get a bed. The pools themselves are lovely with a sloping edge so if you don’t feel brave enough to go in you can sit on the edge in the shallow water and cool down.
Entertainment not too clever but the entertainment team do try hard and work ridiculously long hours. A few of the shows were very good but a few were dire !!
