We saw this hotel on a day visit from Benidorm last September. We were very impressed.

As none of the major operators, apart from Saga, use it we booked the hotel with Travel Republic and no problems.Situated an the front the hotel overlooks the pebble beach of Albir and looks quite splendid. On entry from this side you come into the bar, dance floor and main seating area.

This area is well furnished with many soft seating areas and the bar which is raised so you can have a drink and look out to the beach. There is also an outdoor seating area. Snacks are also served in the bar area. The pool has a grassed area around it and a number of loungers but no parasols.

The hotel has a feature which I`m sure many people have missed. The staircase behind the lifts is a work of art don`t miss it if you visit. The other pool is on the rooftop again with loungers scattered about but no parasols or anywhere to shade.

With temperatures well into the 30s we did not use the hotel pool areas for this reason. Points to note as the hotel has many elderly guests and young families, you have a flight of stairs to climb to get to the rooftop, they also put the gym and the Hairdressers up there. The rooftop pool is about 4 feet higher than the roof and does not have a rail round it, an accident waiting to happen.

Our room was very spacious with 2 beds a free standing wardrobe, a dresser and table with 3 chairs. Television had only CNN in English should have had Sky news and BBC World. You pay 5 euros deposit for a remote from reception. Room safe 15 euros per week and 5 euros deposit for the key. Mini bar to use as a fridge costs 10 euros but includes 2 large bottles of water 3 cans of soft drink and a beer.

Pool towels which you can take to the beach are a deposit of 10 euros each. Our bathroom had a shower over the bath which was very slippery when in use so be very careful. The shower does not have anti scald so the temperature would fluctuate dramatically from very hot to freezing cold while you are using it, and the water went off a couple of times without notice, not very handy when your covered in soap.

The air conditioning was totally inadequate for the size of the room, it blows cold air but not at a rate to make a satisfactory difference.

There is no daytime entertainment programme and six nights a week the resident duo provide music for dancing to, mostly of the ballroom variety. There are guest acts the odd night, the knife thrower was quite good but watching flamenco dancing on a sheet of plywood didn`t do it for me.
Next the biggest disappointment for me was the food.

Breakfast had the usual fried delicasies including chips on more than one occasion, the coffee from the jugs was quite good but the machined coffee was poor. Didn`t join in the usual toaster war and the machined orange juice left an aftertaste. Guests slice there own bread, a very unhygenic practice as I noticed on a few occasions that the napkin provided was not used. One morning the bread I got was harder inside than out. The selection at dinner was reasonable but beef is "cooked" pink and therefor not to my liking. On several occasions cooked food was cold also not what I like. Soups were poor quality looked and tasted like packet. Desserts were all the usual and small tubs of ice cream. Saturday was Gala dinner the biggest disappointment of the lot. Having stayed at other 4 star hotels the gala is usually a big occasion but not here. No welcome drink, no serrano ham, no special display of the chefs best works. They had a roast which the chef carved, pink again, some salmon and some prawns.Friday was fish night, great if you like fish little choice if you don`t.

If you do stay at this hotel take B and B at best as you can buy dinner if you want it and eat out when you don`t. My dinner one night was mashed potatoes, brussels and a pink burger, not bad at 15 euros.
