After coming to this hotel frequently when I was a child I thought it would be nice for and my bogyfriend to visit but how wrong I was. Entertainment which is normally good was terrible, the food was disgusting and there were never any sunbeds left. Don't go to this hotel!! Its not as good as it was in the past

The food wasn't the best I've had in Spanish hotels but there was always something we liked. Meal times were pretty hectic because there were a lot of Spanish staying here and they don't seem to believe in queuing but at least you are allocated a table for your stay.

The room we had was for 4 and we had enough room to walk round and the bathroom was huge.

As for entertainment we didn't stay in the hotel at night but it aways seemed busy.

The Hotel Helios is situated a mere 2 minute walk from the superb Levante beach on Calle Filipinas , just along from the Ambassador Hotel. At the moment (Oct 04) construction work is going on behind the hotel and you should expect to be disturbed with lots of noise and dust from sun-up to sun-down on weekdays.

The Helios is at first impression a very smart hotel . Lots of attention has been paid to modernising all the exterior facades of the building . Reception is big and modern as are the corridors...BUT, the rooms are small ,undecorated and dirty. They contain broken furniture. Our bathroom door for example had a large hole smashed in it.It's ok if you just want somewhere to lay down at night.

Anyway, back to reception . It is staffed by friendly, polite, helpful, multilingual staff 24 hours per day. At reception you can change money, report problems ask advice etc . The reception area is BIG and has many seats and tables . There are just 2 lifts which are very small.
The dining area is reached via some stairs or in the small lift.

There is plently of room for wheelchairs in the dining room which contains a self-service buffet. There are also high-chairs available. The food is average but was always hot and well cooked . There is hot and cold breakfasts on offer each day. The salad bar left a bit to be desired because the ham and cheese was always dried up and pretty grim...i didn't chance eating it. There were no cakes for desert...ever. There is always chips for the kids but no burgers or fish fingers etc.

On arrival you are allocated a table which you keep for the whole time you are there. You share this table with another couple of the same nationality...if you don't like them,TOUGH!.

Now, the bedrooms are very poor. They are painted an appaling yellowy colour and are dirty. They contain broken furniture...and little of it. The bathroom is WAY to small...forget it if you use a wheelchair. The showers are appalingly bad . Be careful if you have children because the shower head can fly off when you put the hot water on ...lethal ! The balcony however is good.Very large and furnished .

The pool area is wonderful,as are the gardens. There are always lots of sunbeds and the area seems pretty safe for children although there is no lifegaurd . There was life-ring though. The water looked clean . Ther are ramps into and out of the pool/garden area to the street.
The hotel has a couple of bars. The entertainment is the same as anywhere in Benidorm..ok if you like Butlins type stuff. There is a magician for the children. They have a disco that goes on until 3 am and you can expect to be woken by loud-mouths each night.

So, the public areas are spotless.Rooms not so good.Food average.Staff very good.Reception very good.Location superb.Surrounding area superb. Shouls be ok for the disabled but the bathrooms are very small.Ok for kids and the elderly.

This hotel was one of the cleanest I have stayed in, the food was fantastic with a great different choice everyday.

The beach was less than five minutes away but I never left the hotel more than twice as the entertainment was fantastic!

I booked up for 2005 as soon as I got back and can't wait to get there next year!

I booked this hotel through Beniter.com & the flights with Mytravellite. Everything went perfectly as usual, flight was good and on time & transfer from airport to the resort and hotel is a piece of cake. Why so many people pay inflated prices to be herded around like cattle by package companies and look like Muppets in the process is well beyond me.

On arrival at hotel we were greeted in a pleasant manner by the reception staff and given the key to a room exactly what we had requested, a high floor overlooking the hotel front. It was as hotel rooms go very large, clean and adequate.

We were given our own table in the bright and well laid out dining room which we kept for the duration of the stay.

The food which was our main concern as one of the party to say the least is more than finiky and is down right picky turned out to be some of the best we have ever had in Benidorm and we have stayed at 12 other hotels there previously so we are able to make comparisons.
There was always a large selection of well prepared food to allow us all to have a good meal.Sweet selection which is often a downfall of Spanish hotels was pretty good, plenty of cakes, fruit, ice cream and yoghurts, jelly and custardy dishes.

The lounge was comfy and in the evenings laid on poorish entertainment, but then who goes to Benidorm to spend the evenings in a hotel? The pool was a swimmers paradise due to it being an oblong of 25 metres in length, open in summer and made indoors during winter months.

Plenty of sunbeds with sunny areas to lay them makes this ideal.
The staff gave back what they received, be pleasant with them and were more than helpful in return.
After being a gypsy in Benidorm for so many years going to one hotel after another I can put my hand on my heart say this is one I would look forward to returning to and most certainly will very soon.

The hotel was catered for all types of tourists especially in the food department.
We basically lived on bread, cheese and pickled onions! as we didn't fancy duck or rabbit!
The overall standard of the hotel was excellent but very family orientated.
Being single girls was quite difficult as there were very strict security guards!
