The rooms were cleaned daily and hotel spotless. We stayed half board but ended up eating out as the food was only just warm at breakfast. No idea about dinner as it was too late at 20.30.
Staff helped in any way possible explaining train times and market directions at weekends.
The lifts had a mind of their own we walked up the stairs faster to the fifth floor. The hotel is situated near a underpass to the beach close by.
The beach however is very course underfoot and has a steep drop to the sea bed.

The evening meal was much better always a choice of 2 soups for starters (very tasty) a hot carvery meat, other choices of meats on the buffet, various vegetables and pasta's. Plenty of choice if you are a vegetarian.
Also lots of choice for desert, traditional Spanish deserts, cakes ice creams etc.
The rooms were cleaned daily although the times they maids would call were inconsistent. Rooms were quite large with plenty of storage.
We had a lovely room at the back overlooking the pool. We were on the first floor and so had an enormous balcony with our own sun loungers.
The entertainment was quite good, it was varied every night. Only thing we would say is that if there are children staying in the hotel the evening entertainment was aimed at them. We only really saw the entertainment on 3 nights and we enjoyed what we saw, bingo, karaoke, you bet and the rocky horror show.
Some bar staff were friendly some were very miserable and rude just hit and miss really. Reception staffs were great, nothing was too much trouble, very polite and helpful.
The only thing we thought was silly was that not only were people "booking" sun loungers with their towels they were doing it to the parasols too. Not an issue for us as we had our own loungers on our balcony but must have been really annoying for others not as lucky as us.
Hotel is located near to the centre of Calella on the main road and other guests in the front of the hotel said it was extremely noisy at night.
One thing to bear in mind I that there is a run down empty hotel next door which appears to have some tramps living in it. We did not experience any robberies as some other reviews have mentioned but the hotel has been fully fitted with CCTV now so all was good.
If we went back to Calella and no other hotel was free we would stay here again but we don

Pool far to small. Food hit and miss. Bar staff not that friendly. Rest of the staff fine. Bar shuts at 1.30am, you can get a drink at 1.30am but are asked to take the drinks to your room!!
Basically we have had your money now go, not nice when you have saved up all year, and then you are told to go to bed with your drinks!
Entertainment ok they tried there best. Safety deposit box in room which is a must, a room was broken into while we where there and they were staying on the 3rd floor. Lifts! what a nightmare, your better off walking!!
Hotel within easy reach of the usual bars and restaurants. Despite all this, did have a good time due to a family we met there, hi Clare, Krista and Kaine.

From first thing in the morning till midnight children ran amock in this hotel shouting and screaming and running wild all day with very little supervision from the hotel or parents.
Although there were hotel rules about diving and inflatables in the pool and coming into the hotel wet , all this was ignored. we had children playing in lifts, skating up and down the dining room, playing hide and seek round people drinking in the bar, and much more.
All the evening entertainment was aimed at the children, games, disco and pantomime entertainment every night but one. We had to go out every night of our holiday to escape the unbelievable screaming, crying and shouting, this spoilt what otherwise would have been a good holiday.
If I wanted a holiday like this I'd have gone to Butlins.

Food OK, always something you could eat.
V good location, no noise at all, shops bars and restaurants very nearby, two minutes walk via underpass to the beach. There are hotels being built opposite but they are almost finished and are not in the slightest bit intrusive.
All staff excellent, v friendly and the staff whom are not English (there are lots) speak excellent English.
Reception staff, particularly Neil, were very helpful.
Entertainment was more for kids than adults but then the hotel was full of them!!
I would definitely go back to the Santa Monica, in fact I am going to look up prices for next year right now!

The hotel was kept imaculate, the food was absolutely fine with a reasonable choice of menu.We hardly left the hotel really except for a trip to barcelona f.c for the men which we got dragged to, with a trip to the zoo in the afternoon.
Wouldn't do either again as it was boring for the women in the morning, men loved it and far too hot to walk around the zoo.
The entertainment was excellent both day and night, we stayed in every night and we've never done that before. We would all definately go again.

We had a big problem with ants.
View of main roads and bins was terrible.
Pool was dirty.
Nine of us out of eleven were violently sick and a lot of other people in the hotel were ill also.
I have stayed in a lot of hotels but this was by far the worse. Rooms were dirty and our sheets were not changed the whole two weeks we stayed. Our little one couldn't have a nap in the afternoon because the cleaners would be back and fore all afternoon.
No good for honeymooners or afternoon naps.
