This hotel is weel worth its 4 stars, the staff are very helpfull, the hotel is spotless and the food is great.
You arrive at the front and walk into a very impressive lobby area, the hotel is actually made up of 2 blocks and the area in between iscovered and forms the reception, lounge and bar areas.
The rooms are large and have 2 double beds (if you are on the top floor its one double and one single)they have air con and a tv that has channels with Spanish, German and British programms. The bathrooms are a bit of a let down for a 4 star Ive stayed in 2 and 3 star Hotels which are better fitted but there is always hot water and a supply of Shampoo etc that is replenished every day. The balconeys have no privacy at all as you are overlooked whichever side of the blocks you are on.
The resteraunt is on a lower level and dosnt have any windows with views to speak of but thats the only drawback, the food is very good with a huge choice to go for, there was always at least 3 fish dishes alone plus the usual choice of chicken, beef etc. They always had a special table that did different things every night ie a carvery or a saefood table of a flambe display. The drinks were not overpriced with a decent bottle of wine around 7 euros.
There is one large pool with a small jacuzzi type section and a big childrens pool. There are enough sun loungers to go around but if people started leaving towels they were taken off and left at reception. There is also a area under one of the blocks in the shade that has settees and easy chairs if you want to get out of the sun.
The rear of the hotel backs onto the main prom whcih comes alive at night so chances are the only time you will use the main enterance is on arrival and departure.
There is a hotel run kids club which is ok but not a lot of supervision, it runs from 10.30 to 1.00 and 3.00 until 7.00 its free and our kids liked it.
The entertainment is ok not brill but ok the team do try hard with standard stuff water polo etc in the day and a kids disco followed by a show at night. They sometimes have it outside and it goes on until 12.00 so if your at that end of the hotel it can get noisy.
The hotel is about 10 min walk into resort centre down the main prom (which is not actually on the seafront) at night there are little stalls on here and the local market is on very tuesday. The hotel is just across the road from the train station there is no noise from the trains and you forget about them after a day or so.
We had a very good relaxing time and would definatly go again.

when we finally arrived after an extremly exhausting flight we couldnt believe our old eyes. we were greeted by a bunch of young handsome spanish waiters just waiting to oblige and get us our first drink, with many to follow. we had set out to have a braw time and that is exactly what we had. the hotel was absoulutly wonderful, couldnt have been any cleaner or more organised. the food was beyond my wildest dreams, delicious. i never missed a meal, and im not that big of an eater. the staff were so friendly, they didnt even moan at me when i lost my swipe card to enter my room for the fifth time. as i am quite old i tend to drop and spill everything quite a lot but there wasnt even a groan when it had to be cleared up time after time. when i booked myself in to get a wee perm and a wee massage the beautician was so friendly i could have stayed there forever, i would even leave my husband of fifty years to stay and have a lifelong massage. entertainment surely had to be based around me as it was exactly to my taste, couldnt have been more braw. i would definatly bring the grandwains here for a wee trip.
i would just like to thank everyone in this hotel that made my being here a pleasure.
yours gratefully

Hi. I was the rep for Thomas Cook at the OnaBrava for the Summer of 2003.
I'd just like to urge anyone looking at the Costa Brava as a possible destination for their holiday to book this hotel now!!!
The hotel staff are excellent and very welcoming. You'll also find the food to be brilliant, although be warned, if you have young kids, you won't often find burgers and fishfingers, tends to be a bit more upmarket.
Also unless you request otherwise, you will get 2 double beds in your room!! The rooms are big and spacious but you will find you don't get tea or coffee making facilities so please remember the travel-kettle!
Safety deposit boxes can be hired at reception (15

Just returned from Costa Brava and an holiday that I felt was ok. I am not one to put down holidays and have always made the most of any situation but just wanted to let people know my opinion of the Hotel and the resort.
The Hotel first then, The Onabrava is a lovely Hotel and I have never stayed in a Hotel more friendlier than this one. The lobby area is very impressive and the rooms are adequate for 4 people. You have your rooms cleaned everyday and new towels left if required (just leave the towels in the bath). The maids also supply you with Shampoo, bath gel, soap, comb and even a shower cap.
The rooms have safes in them for a local charge of 15 euros a week (plus 6 euros deposit).
As for the food, excellent is what comes to mind. A very good variety each day and not repetitive as I expected. I must say though I felt that they could lay on a bit more of a choice for kids. I am lucky that my kids will eat anything but I felt maybe things like fishfingers or hotdogs would be better.
Now for the downside, the Hotel is a long walk from the resort centre. There is not much at all at Santa Susana, a few spanish bars and shops but they are a ten minute walk away. Keep walking and after another 10/15 minutes you will reach 3 british bars in Malgrat De Mar. Good bars with the usual entertainment on....bingo, Karaoke, that sort of thing and if you walk another 10 minutes you will come to Eureka, this is a great bar which includes, beach party nights, xmas parties etc but you have to get there about 7.30 to get a seat. I'm afraid that is it as far as bars are concerned unless you want to walk another 5/10 minutes to a small Welsh bar but remember you have got to walk all the way back as the very cheap bus service stops at 11pm.
There is quite a bit to do for the kids, my kids, 15,13,11 was kept occupied every night by the trampolines and several games rooms near the first 3 British pubs. They also managed to make friends with a whole german football team, so that also kept them occupied.
Having just returned I am being honest and saying that I feel Santa Susana is not suitable for a family (we were told that the Mayor doesn't want any pubs/ bars built in Sanata Susana as he says it will spoil the peace and quiet). Malgrat is better though.
I would just like to add that it is an ideal place for getting around. We visited several places including, of course, Barcelona and Nou Camp. The train service is excellent and very cheap.
Just one more thing that has just come to mind, if it rains watch out. If you cross under the train lines via the subway and it begins to rain you may have a problem getting back as they tend to flood, you will need to take off your shoes and roll up your trousers to get across.
Sorry to sound negative, the Hotel is lovely but too far away and there is not enough to do there for a family during the day.

I went to this Hotel with a friend, and it was one of the best holidays I have experienced.
The rooms were very clean as well as the bathrooms and were cleaned everyday, the food was excellent they catered for people of all tastes and an amazing variety of dishes to choose from, especially breakfasts, where they had every type of eggs under the sun available!!
Although the entertainment was average, just a minute walk and you have lively bars, clubs, restaurants etc.
The beach was across the road, but bit of a mission to get to because of the railway line.
All in all the hotel, staff and quality was amazing and I will definately be returning soon!!!
