The hotel is attractive, set in well kept gardens with nice views.
The pool is small, and there is limited space for sunbeds, but plenty of tables and chairs. There is also a separate small sunbathing terrace away from the pool. Inside it is "traditional" i.e. rather basic and old fashioned, but very clean and tidy.
All staff were friendly and helpful.
An early flight home meant we missed breakfast so complimentary "picnics" were provided if asked for. The food was self service buffet and was ok- always something edible and much of it good, although the meat was often tough. I got the impression they were working hard to improve the quality and variety.
Our room faced the cliff so had no view at all- we decided not to ask for a different room as the hotel was obviously full, and the balcony got the sun in the afternoon. It should have been a quiet peaceful spot but for the building work next door! It looked like a road they were building, and at times was very noisy. The walls are quite thin so there was also a lot of noise from other guests, and constantly banging doors.
The weather was unusually cold for the end of May, especially at night times, with a fair amount of rain, which made the room feel very cold at times, and we were glad of our coats and the extra blankets.
The hotel is no smoking inside, so the smokers had to shiver outside in the rain!
Entertainment (3 or 4 times a week) included a flamenco show, Spanish night, and a singer/ organist. There were no organised daytime activities.
The main advantage of this hotel is the position- it is an easy walk to town and beach, and although there is a hill to climb coming back it is very short. It is also nicely positioned for the bus station and walks in surrounding countryside where there are wonderful views.

The hotel location couldn't be better, just a few minutes walk from the centre of the old town, but you can walk over to the new part in 10.
The hotel was spotlessly clean, and I have never had bath towels so large on holiday before. The food was not very good, not a lot of choice, and if you chose the wrong time to go to the dining room, especially breakfast, the queues for the coffee machine and toaster were horrendous.
The staff were great, very friendly. If they got the food right it would be a 4 or 5 star hotel.

Nice clean hotel, but badly situated on a hill.
Near to shops and beach though. Bad view of a wall from balcony too!
Food catered at French and Spanish. Edible but not good.
Staff sometimes friendly but very efficient, entertainment bad.

we have just got home from the neptuno and we are missing it already!! the hotel was in a quiet area but two minutes walk from the old town anf the beach where all the action is. It takes about 5 minutes to walk to the beach, where there are endless shops, bars and restaurants, and an ancient old castley fortressey type thing! if you walk to the top there are excellent views across the bay. The food at the neptuno is quite basic, and not really aimed at the english. there are very few english people but we made freinds with lots of other people from different countries. it is mainly spanish, french and german. our 11 month old daughter amelia loved the hospitality of the people and the staff, not to mention the pool!! the entertainment was a bit cheesy, but very entertaining and everyone seemed to get into the spirit.ed gard the magician was good!!
very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere in garden setting including birds, fish and terrapins!!the rooms were well presented and very clean. some have pool view.paco and ali the waiters were very hospitable and worked very hard to make sure that you felt welcome, they also got involved with things that were going on around them.gotta go, we are off to book the neptuno for next year!!

The Neptuno is a quiet hotel in the old town of Tossa de Mar. I have stayed here 4 times and would thoroughly recommend it. It is about 2 minutes walk from the shops and resturants and beach is only a 5 minutes (or less) stroll away. It is furnished in old Spanish style and has a relaxed feel.
The gardens are well maintained and it is pleasant to read a book there as a peaceful alternative to the beach. In terms of food, I cannot comment as we have always stayed on a bed and breakfast basis.
The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly and efficent (on one of our visits we were put in rooms above the laundry and it was very noisy but we were moved immediately we complained). Some of the rooms at the back of the hotel look out onto a sort of cliff which can make them a bit dark. However, if you are lucky enough to get a room at the front, you will have lovely views over the town.
This is a hotel for people who like somewhere quiet and relaxing. It has a mix of nationalities and doesn't seem that popular with families (unless we have just been lucky!). I will definitely stay here again. I have stayed in a few hotels in Tossa over the years and this is my favourite.
