Isla Canela Holidays

4 out of 5 from 25 reviews
The island of Isla Canela is joined to the main land via a bridge and remains a popular holiday destination with the Spanish and Portuguese markets. The Andalusian town is blessed with a beach more than four and a half miles long as well as sand dunes and salt marshes where wildlife abounds. Accommodation is largely upmarket with both hotels and apartment complexes available to stay in. The island offers all manner of activities, including sailing, canoeing, tennis, fishing and diving while the local marina is a good place to have a coffee and watch both the world and the boats go by.

A relatively new resort with beautiful sandy, uncrowded, beach and a pretty marina.
The hotels and apartment blocks are built in the Moorish style which is extrememly attractive.
The restaurants and shops are still being developed but are certainly adequate for the business at the moment.
I have been numerous times and will continue to do so in the future.

If loud music, lively bars and plenty of night life are your thing, then Isla Canela is definitely not for you. If, on the other hand, you are looking for a wonderfully relaxing time in a lovely clean little resort with a good beach and nice marina then I whole heartedly recommend it.

A five minute bus ride away is Ayamonte, a quaint, unspoilt little town where you can do bit of shopping, catch the ferry across the river to Portugal or take in a bull fight!

Most of the entertainment is hotel based and is of a reasonable standard. There are a few small shops and bars down by the marina and I can recommend the Outback Bar as being a particulary good, laidback place to while away an hour or so enjoying a beer or a coffee.

Whether we were simply lucky or not I don't know but we had the best weather we have ever had on a holiday and didn't see one cloud in the whole two weeks we were there.

We will definitely visit this resort again.

Undeveloped but lovely and relaxing. Loads to do in easy reach and Portugal 20 mins drive. Will definitely return to see how it has developed.

The resort is mostly Spanish which did make me feel uncomfortable because no-one acknowledged us.
Plenty of shops in the town centre and fairly cheap.
So near to Portugal, easy to go over on the ferry and not far.
The outdoor market is good, you can haggle the prices down and get some good bargains.
There is a Park and a small Zoo which is free of charge, the animals were in such small cages it was really upsetting so avoid.

The is in a releatively unspoilt part of Spain. There is a combination of rural, beach resort and a fishing port all very close together. If you like a holiday away from the hustle and bustle, with no discos in sight of the resort, then this is the one for you.
A ten minute, inexpensive bus ride takes you into the town of Ayamonte, which is a river crossing away from Portugal. With a little planning and perhaps the hire of a car, there is a lot to do.
