The La Cala hotel and golf resort is a real gem of a place. We were a party of 12 golfers ages 28 to 52 yrs.
The hotel is open and spacious in Andalucian style. At the time of our visit a new Spa was being constructed to finish December2005 but to the hotels credit the building works went virtually unnoticed. When the Spa is finished I think this hotel will become 'the' place to stay on the Costa del Sol, if it isn't already!
The rooms were spacious, well furnished and the beds extremely comfortable, and that's from a bad back sufferer.
Marble bathrooms were again spacious, impeccably clean and well stocked with extras, robes etc. However the real surprise is the size of the balconies, huge, I've never stayed in a hotel with such large balcony space, it was bigger than the actual room, with spectacular views of the golf courses and mountain valley.
The pool area was enjoyable as well with sunbathing area overlooking the golf course, reasonably large pool with pool bar,j acuzzi, and a 3m deep end, very clean and well maintained.
Our group only ate breakfast in the hotel but it was again superb with a wide selection from a hot and cold buffet.
The staff at reception and in the restaurant were helpful and pleasant and gave us some good advice on where to go out.
The evening entertainment I couldn't comment on as we went out every night but the staff were very accommodating on our return with coffee and Brandy's at 4 am!!
The overall hotel experience was faultless and I will definitely be returning with my family
