San Pedro Holidays

Although it's a working town, San Pedro de Alcantara is becoming increasingly popular with both holidaymakers and expats thanks to its location. The resort is just six miles west of Marbella and close to the Sierra de Ronda mountain range which is known for its natural beauty and good hiking. San Pedro is also popular thanks to its bustling old town which boasts the Paleochristian Basilica Church and the ruins of the Las Bovedas Roman baths. Newer developments lie closer to the beach while an evening stroll along the promenade is one of the best ways of checking out the many restaurants before choosing one for dinner.

San Pedro was not a great resort to visit. Puerto Banus was brilliant, go there to see the yatchs and cars. The beach here was much better sandy and lots of watersports, whereas the beach by the hotel was shingle and the sea was rocky to walk into.

There was not a lot going on in the area around the hotel a couple of bars a small shop and s supermarket. The one good thing about San Pedro was its market on a Thursday.

Resort is quiet with a long promenade and stranely little or no people and no shops. Do not recommend unless you are looking for solitude. If you are you will find it here.

Puerto Banus is five minutes away by car, Marbella 10 minutes. They are both fantastic experiences.

The location was okay if you like walking. The beach was about 5 minutes walk but pretty awful when you got there but a short walk to the right as you're looking at the sea is worth while as the local council have gone to a lot of trouble to smarten it up.

There wasn't anything to do in the resort in March, but it was only a 10 minute walk to Puerto Banus - along the main road which is very, very busy.

If you want a really nice meal, try the Bel Mare restaurant which is at the beach. They do curry night on Thursdays, and you will probably have to book in advance. They were talking about changing this to Monday night so check as you won't want to be disappointed. Very friendly staff and we found it to be really good value for money.

San Pedro is just not nice, it's also dirty. Puerto Banus is nice, also clean. Shopping in San Pedro is cheap, coffee in Puerto Banus is 6 Euros. I can't really comment on entertainment as we went off season, but apparently there are some good night clubs in Puerto Banus. The beach sand is dark brown and we came across a sewage outlet pipe, but if we hadn't seen this, we would have said it was clean. The main road is lethal.

No - I'd never go there again.

There is very little to do in the resort. There is a bus stop outside the Hotel which went to Puerto Banus and Marbella and the bus station was a 10 minute walk away giving access to all the other popular resorts.

There was alot of building work going on in the town centre as they were buliding a new underground carpark, but they had made adequate pedestrian access.

Beware the very, very bust motorway which runs right outside the Hotel

The resort is pretty central to San Pedro & Puerto Banus, with easy access by both bus or foot.

The beach is a joke !!! what the brochure does'nt tell you is the fact it resembles a builders yard with gravel and skips on the beach.

The resort itself was about a 20 min. walk along a busy road from the nearest shops or beach. The bus service is good and cheap, 1 euro each to the lovely Puerto Banus-well worth a visit, good designer shops but none of your typical touristy shops.
