Didn't have any problems with how clean the rooms/reception area are.
Breakfast was ok (not a big breakfast eater anyway)although the coffee was lousy.
Location is alittle way from town, but wasn't a problem, never used the shuttle bus as I hired a car from the airport which we used during the day @ night we walked.
The staff we had no contact with really only to check in, which was handled well & as you would expect.
The entertainment was definitely the hotels weak point. Only heard 1hr of it' it was an 1hr too long.

Spent a long weekend in El Pinar.
The food was the worst we have ever had and we are not fussy.
We have been on numerous Spanish holidays this was the least enjoyable never again to El Pinar.
Charge about 40 quid for a late checkout.
Miles from anywhere decent and beach if you make the journey downhill guaranteed you

The hotel and apt was very clean, towels were changed daily, maid daily.
The kitchen equipment was limited , no sharp knife, minimum cutlery etc. The so called one bedroom apt was actually a large room which had been split in two with a dividing wall, the twin beds near the balcony, the back half with the kitchen and sofa, not pleasant to sit in as there was no windows to the out side.
Had one lunch in the hotel which was

This Hotel gets rubbished so often, we question the motives of some reviewers.
We had a 2 bedroom apartment and a Studio. The apartment was far better than many families live in. It was wonderful!
The Studio was superior to the apartment we had at the Sol Principito earlier this year.
The gardens and Pool areas (there are 2 adult and 1 kids pool) were superb.
Although Self Catering, 4 of us tried the Restaurant which provides Andalucian rather than British style food. Not unreasonable since it's in Andalucia. We wondered whether some of the reviewers objected to Spanish style accommodation and food in Spain.
The location suited us - we had a hire car. It is a bit far out of town - but not a problem if you can walk - or take the FREE bus if you can't.
The staff were lovely.
The entertainment was fine when we were there - even flamenco on Sundays. Some people just wannna moan!!!

Entertainment pathetic.
Food changes for worse on 1 Oct.
Could be good hotel. If management was improved.
And new chairs in nightclub.
Free bus misses on occasions.

We were in a 1 bedroom apartment consisted of 1 room with 2 single beds and 2nd room with sofa bed fridge 2 ring cooker and dishes 2pans and cutlery, a table and 3 chairs and opening on to bathroom which was large and very good. There was no kettle toaster or microwave which made eating in very difficult. The location of the hotel made it difficult to eat out without a trip by bus. Taxi back was 5 euros.Courtesy bus ran 10.00 till 1.30 then 5.30 till 8.30.The entertainment was diabolical mainly Spanish music we had 1 breakfast here which cost us 19.5 euros and it was rubbish.0n the plus side it was clean and towels sheets changed daily.Would not return here.

We booked El Pinar through Lastminute.com. The description sounded perfect and we knew we would have 14 wonderful nights there. It said "off the beaten track, nestling in the hills overlooking Torremolinos, etc, etc." We knew we were in trouble when off the beaten track seemed to be off the side of a very busy road. The very rude front desk staff (who seemed to be inbred brothers) insisted we pay for all 14 nights when we checked in, before they let us see the room. Eventually we got the room, went upstairs, opened the door and were greeted by a grand family of scuttling cockroaches. The housekeeping maid didn't see a problem with this. The sheets were stained, the room was musky and the sound of the road resounded through the room. We got another room. A cockroach on the bed this time and numerous cigarette burns on the bed spread. Again we asked for a different room. This time it smelt like they had stored cadavers there. We politely told them we were leaving and we asked for our money back - did we get it? Yeah right....they suddenly forgot their near perfect English and we were turfed out. But the holiday was saved - we went to the Melia and had a wonderful time

I was thinking of staying in this hotel again, as it it the cheapest option for good accommodation in the area. I checked the latest reviews and was surprised by what I read.
The only problem here is the location. It's a long way to the town centre and the beach and there is a bit of traffic noise because the main road is so close. But the rooms are clean and comfortable. All round the hotel is good value and deserves better than two stars.
