After booking to go to the Hotel Port Aventura this year, we discovered the bad reports on the internet afterwards, so were obviously apprehensive about staying there.

We travelled out on 14 September 2003 and stayed at the hotel for a fortnight. I am glad to say that we had a lovely time and wouldn

We decided to stay here following reports from friends of ours. Despite all the "teething troubles" in 2002, they still thought it was a great place to go, and so we booked it.

It was fantastic!!! So much so, that I booked for 2004 from the pool whilst on Week 2 of our holiday!!

Firstly - the Hotel. On entry, we just went - WOW!! Even others on our coach were whispering to each other as we arrived. Lots of Admin staff - check in took about 10 minutes - no problems at all. Very friendly, courteous, customer focussed. Nothing was a problem. As the hotel is done in "village Style" different blocks, they all seem relatively near the pools. Our room was about 30 yards walk away.

Next - the pool. Lovely, spacious, clean, pools very well kept, well policed by life guards. On our first day, having experienced a really bad visit to the H10 Med Village in 2002, we went down early to get a sunbed - we were first there - and were still first there till about 11.30am!!! Yes, there were enough sunbeds to go round all the time!! Kids pool was excellent - safe and games were on every day. Our children 2 boys 10 and 5 had the option to play or not to play but the choice was there all the time.
NOTE ON THE POOL - tbey don't allow sun loungers in the pool for safety reasons - If this is an important requirement, then dont go here as they will NOT allow them or boats or big inflatables at all.

Beautifully landscaped pool too. Got some wonderful pictures for home. Loved the movies which were shown in front of the pool at night - popcorn and peace on a sunlounger - bliss!!

Food - wonderful!! At least 10 different hot foods every night along with reams of salads and cold meats. Absolutely spoilt for choice. Theme nights 3 times a week - chinese, mexican, italian - being adventurous, I tried all the stuff -rabbit, all kinds of fish, other meats. Kids were able to eat what they liked too - burgers, chips, nuggets, etc.
There's a dine around option which we used - you get a credit of around 30 euro to eat in one of the theme park restaurants. we ate in a couple of the restaurants in the park, and whilst fine they weren't as good as the Buffet del Port.

Room - average sized room, with 2 large beds - more than sufficient for our needs - Fridge which we stocked with our own stuff for lunches etc - good maid service nice and friendly if you needed anything they had it no problems at all.

Prices in the hotel - soft drinks 2.00 euro each - a little expensive, but I expected this. Beers wines etc were more costly than in Salou, but this is again what i'd expect.

Service in the bars was a little slow - but again, if you spoke to them in Spanish or even said an Ola , or Adios, or por favor, they'd have your order double quick. The Spanish love you trying to speak their language - I was amazed at the difference it made to their attitude if you even tried the most basic phrase.

All in all, the fact that we booked for 2004 whilst still there in 2003 says a lot about the hotel and our enjoyment.

Lots of other small things which made it memorable - free bus to the town and back out of town during the day, great entertainment at night, accessibility to the park at any time, the fireworks every night, the excellent customer service staff.

Great - really great. Looking forward to June 04!!!

This hotel is superbe, the pool area was fantastic, laid out as a tropical lagoon with a waterfall at one end. The pool area was never crowded. Free towel service was useful and 4 life gaurds covering the pool from 9am till 7 pm, so safe to relax and let the kids splash about.

The buffet style meals worked well during the week but at weekends it was a bit crowded. The food was excellent. The room was nicley laid out and decorated. The entertainment area is an out door "town square" with bars and cafe's. The entertainment was not the best feature of the hotel, but was acceptable.

As a hotel guest we had unlimited entry to the Port Adventura Theme Park. This was very good, the kids loved it. The park is spread over a huge area and the rides are well spread out. It dos'nt have a lot of big rollercoaster rides, but those it does have are a lot of fun. The Dragon Karn with 7 loops is the best rollercoaster i've ever riden. The express passes allow you to "jump" the queue on a lot of rides. Dont use this feature to ride the Dragon Karn repeatedly or you'll develope a head ache after about 4 rides.

We'll definatly come back soon.

Hi all! i have just returned from Hotel Port Aventura (20/09/02). I found the hotel excellent and had no real complaints. There was a bit of smell through the courtyard at night and in the ladies toilets beside the Pica Pica Bar but other than that i could not really complain. The entertainment was standard so this could be improved and the resident mosquitoes were a bit annoying. My main gripe would have been with the tour rep. I am sure that with just that one sentence you can probably guess who we booked our holiday through. Yes that's right Last Choice!!!. She was so unhelpful and unavailable that by the time our welcome meeting was scheduled for (5 days after we arrived) we had found out all we needed to know. Were advised that Costa Caribe tickets should have been sent to our room, checked with reception they said no that as it was Last Choice the rep would have them. Checked with the rep and you guessed it she said no they should have been sent to the room. So some confusion there then. Eventually got the tickets but only stayed 1 hour as there was too much water falling around our 4 year old daughters head in the kids area. Must say that Aquapolis in La Pineda is of a much better standard for all ages. In saying that can't be too bad as we are booking for next year again. Hope anybody staying int he future has as good a time as we did and others like this had no complaints either

We were very apprehensive about this holiday as we'd read so many negative reports. We were very pleased with most aspects.

The pool was great.

The food was lovely but could have been a little hotter.

Guest Services were very, very helpful.

The Hotel was clean.

My two boys aged 12 & 9 couldn't get enough of the park.

Some aspects weren't so good.

The mini-bar in our room had a 1/2 empty bottle of coke in it.

The maids forgot to leave us any loo-roll.

There was no English section in the room directory & when I asked for one I was told there wasn't any left.

Only go to reception if you have to - go to guest services as they are more helpful. (& quicker)

We paid our final bill by card at reception when we cheched out & since then have discovered that the Hotel have taken a further 1,435.23euros from our account without our permission. The bank are investigating, but I have emailed the Hotel for an explanation & had no reply. I am not surprised.

A Year on from our last experience in May 2002, I have nothing but 'GOOD NEWS' to report.

The staff has being totally changed.....all are friendly and have a good command of English.

Food is a bit repetitive over 2 weeks....but hey its still very good.

This hotel has finally reached the point it should hasve been last year, and they seem to be constantly looking to improve thing further.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK...and hopefully we'll see ye all again next year !!!!!
