One of Spain's most popular water parks, the Portaventura Aquatic Park offers a combination of rides, shops and restaurants and even a hotel for the hardcore water fun fan. Located near Salou and La Pineda, visitors to the park can ride its many water slides, take a raft trip or relax by the wave pool that laps onto Bahama Beach. Children are well catered for with a Caribbean-themed playground as well as the slides while there is a choice of four hotels and even a caravan park to stay in. Daily shows also take place in the water park's six themed areas which cover everything from the Polynesian region to the Wild West.

The resort is very clean no full up bins or rubbish lying around even around the pool side.

Only visited the beach one evening it was a lovely stroll in the warm sunshine.

We didn't spend too much time in the resort as it was mainly closed down as you would expect at that time of year.

Very pleasant and clean at this time of year but I can imagine it being very crowded in the summer.

We did bump into some very nice ex-pat types who sorted us out for New Years Eve.

Salou is busy, busy - very touristy. I had a job finding a gift that didn't say 'Greetings from Salou' on the front and 'Made in Taiwan / China' on the back!! More family orientated than for clubbers, I would say. Plenty of restaurants (including McDonalds and Burger King). Found the people very friendly and helpful, especially the taxi drivers and shop staff. Huge beach, lots of lifeguards and activities, gets crowded early. We spent most of our time at the hotel pool or the theme park.

Salou beach was very clean in parts - but beware people do let their dogs walk anywhere and everywhere!

Plenty of childrens play areas along the promenade, but watch out for those doggy do dos!.

Lots of bars and amusements and mini markets to stock up on drink and cigarettes. Lots of little shops to buy expensive and not too expensive pressies to bring back home.

Port Adventura resort wonderful. However Salou was dirty dingy and disgusting. Beach looked good but everyone sat right next to the sea all squashed. Not many foodshops .

The Universal Meditteranea resort was a smaller version of the Florida attraction but nevertheless a great resort. port Adventura theme park was very busy in June with Spanish teenagers on school trips but with the Gold passes, didnt matter one bit. They were a fantastic benefit. On several days, 'Dragon Khan' queue was up to an hour, my brave daughter went straight on without any wait. Mum not quite brave enough to join!! For our three year old, not so much to do but enough to keep him happy for a few hours.

Costa Caribe was my favourite. A fantastic water park for both very young and old. Thelifeguards were a bit over zealous at times with their whistles but I suppose rather that, than not bothering. We didnt feel the need to hire any tubes - more than enough for the lazy river and rides. my 3 yr old loved the kids section, he was on the motorbikes that shot water all the time!!

If you have kids, then I definately would recommend this holiday to you. ITs the next best thing to going to the States ( we cant afford that just yet!!)

Salou centre was very much like Benidorm or such like and the hotels didn't look very nice and were very close together.

We did however spend a few nights in some of the Irish pubs and had a few good nights with the live singers. What I would say is choose carefully where you go as some are better than others.

salou is a nice enough place but you will notice that it has a lot of graffiti. We didn't go into salou at night much so I cant really comment on the nightlife.

Even though it was freezing we did brave the beach, which was fairly clean and had a few parks dotted about here and there, I would go to Salou again unless it was a universal hotel, for the park facilities, as salou isn't up to much.
