This hotel is great for families and couples my daughter is 9 and loved the entertainment put on throughout the day and night. As did we!
The food is ok some reports aren't too good but there is fresh salad everyday at lunch and dinner. Breakfast is great. There is a seperate kids area for them so they love that. Some dishes aren't to my taste but when you're catering for such a variety of nationalities I think this hotel did really well.
Our room was cleaned every day and fresh towels left.
Its not far from Salou centre and the beach, shop round the corner for your water and papers and little bit further for your nescafe and english breakfaqst and roast if you want it.
All in all this is a good clean family hotel; just could do with some more loungers around the pools.

The Hotel Calypso was a clean, friendly and welcoming. The food was very good and catered not only for the adults but for our two young children. The hotel was situated far enough from the late night bars but close enough to walk into the centre of Salou. The entertainment team at the hotel work extremely hard and although some of the evening entertainment was slightly cheesy, the good shows where exceptional! The team are certainly a credit to the hotel.
My family and I would definately visit this hotel again.

when we arrived the hotel receptoin staff were very freindly and helpfull and showed us were to go as the calypso is fairly large.the colours in the coridoors are a bit lively, there was a bottle of bubbley on ice when we arrived [which went down well after a 4 hour delay]our room was cleaned every day by some of the most plesent maids weve ever had and was reasonably spacious as we didnt have to use the sofa bed, the night club wasnt noisy a low background noise at best but the hotel walls are a little thin and you can hear all that goes on in the next rooms we were lucky to be between some elderly couples i wouldnt like to be there in high season.the food was the worst weve had in a long time not a lot of choice and very similar every day.hotel location is just out of the way of the main road and about 10 minuites to the smaller beech not the main one.cant comment on the entertainment as we went out every night,i would visit the hotel again but would choose room only and eat at fordies bar or one of the other plentyfull cheep places to eat.

my sister, niece, grandaughter and myslf stayed at hotel calypso we were put in the 2nd block which looked like something out of the bronx it was that bad there were groups of lads running riot and the security was there when we got to our rooms we couldnt stop in the room allocated as it was full of ants so with a bit of persuading we were given a room in the main hotel which was nice enough but besides being next door to a couple who never stopped arguing when they came in from the pub we also was kept awake till 3 in the morning with the disco which was very loud , so all in all we didnt enjoy our holiday then to cap it off we had a 6 hours delay with our return flight and to make matters worse when i complained to thompsons they have,nt had the decency to reply so no i wouldn,t go in hotel calypso again or with thompsons .

hotel was very clean and spacious. rooms were comfortable, and ample for 2 people, but if you had to use the sofa bed as well, it would have been really cramped.
breakfast was continental, with quite a bit of choice.
didn't see any entertainment, but it was all geared to the spanish seniors.
a word of warning, if you are there for a saturday night, make sure you have ear plugs! the nightclub in front of block 2 has a disco on till 6am, so you will need them!

Just returned from our 3rd visit to the Calypso. Only a short break this time but wish it could have been so much longer. I really love this hotel and all the staff. They really do make the holiday.
A few of the entertainment are leaving this year and I will really miss them. Iria and Carlos have made each of our visits really special.
I still think we will return to this hotel next year because it is a great family holiday and the entertainment it brilliant.
I recommend it to all families who want a fun holiday.

We had flown to Reus airport which meant that our transfer to the Calypso hotel was only about 25min.

We arrived at the Calypso and were pleased with what we saw.

The hotel was clean and staff very helpful. Hotel maids were always on the go. We were very glad of the room air conditioning.

We had read a couple of bad comments about the Calypso, but I can truthfully tell you right now, all five of us had a wonderful 1 week stay, wishing it was more, what you do read about, is some people being very picky.

Food at this hotel was a good variety which was changed each day The hotel had 2 reps with the usual informative things(more expensive)to do, as every hotel does.

The hotel is in the perfect place as it is away from all the hustle and bustle, with only a pleasant 10 min walk to the shops, restaurants and beach.

The hotel entertainment was very good, with different themes every night. I would visit this hotel again.

I agree with the other people that visited this hotel this year. The food is OK without being "a la carte" and the decor in the corridors could do with a bit of sprucing up. That said, what a great time my family had there. The facilities and pool etc are fabulous. The drinks and bar meals are the cheapest in the resort. The staff are really good, hardworking and friendly, and this made the holiday really enjoyable. The entertainment team worked tirelessly and put on some excellent shows. This is probably the best holiday I can remember going on and my kids are pestering me to book Calypso again next year.

My daughter (aged 9) and I have just got back after 2 weeks in the Calypso. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a fun family holiday. The animation team keep the kids (and the big kids) occupied all day and night. We spent every second night at the hotel opting to visit Port Adventura on the alternative nights but would have been happy to spend more time there.

Our room was in the main block overlooking the pool. It was very clean and comfortable, although we did only sleep in it!

Restaurant food was great, lots to choose from. My daughter is fussy but always managed to find something she liked. We also visited the Al fresco twice and thoroughly enjoyed this too.

Already planning to go back next year!
