I had been living in Madrid with a friend for about 3 weeks in an awful apartment so we decided to spend the last few days in a hotel.
We booked the Gran Via hotel online and got ana amazing deal, something like 80 for 3 nights! This was just the room, no food. It is a five start hotel
The hotel is great. The location is right in the middle of the most important street in Madrid, hence the name, Gran Via
So, the location is central but very busy. However, from the seclusion of the hotel you wouldn't know
All the clothes shops etc are at your doorstep, there is a corte ingles where you can buy food
The room was nice, but it was really the roof top pool that did it.
There are no beaches in Madrid obviously, and the local pools arent up to much so this was a dreaa. Up there, you forget the business of the street below.
Nice little restaurant with drinks, lunch etc. It is expensive but that's what you expect
Staff were friendly and everything was clean
I gave no marks for entertainment as i didn't seek any out as i was only there for afew days and you have the whole of Mardid at your finger tips thatnk to location
Not a family holiday but not many people seek one out in Madrid
It was great, a bit of luxury after my horrible flat !!
