The recent troubles in Bangkok in particular have definitely had an impact on tourism. This superb hotel seemed to be half empty.
We had 2 days here and treated ourselves to Club. The room was immaculate and bathroom amenities were high quality. I liked the little details like the expensive looking travel books, the bowl of fruit, the choice of types of tea, the pillow menu(!) amongst other things. Staff were very efficient. One example, when we got to our room, I asked if there was an iron and board available and it arrived less than 5 minutes later.
The Club lounge is the most unusual I have seen. It is in a setting resembling an Italian courtyard and even had a fountain. Club included breakfast; snacks and soft drinks during the day including a menu with such things as crab cakes or satay sticks; 3 hours in the evening with drinks( the wines were particularly good) and hot food plus sushis, cheese, desserts.
There was free wifi and computer access from the club lounge. We also got 500 bahts worth of laundry per day.
The pool area looked very pretty but we didn't have time to enjoy it. Also the gym was well equipped.
We would definitely be happy to return to this hotel.
