Just updating the earlier report by another user from 2007 to say the place is still going strong and is well worth the stellar reviews it gets around the Net. Aside from the location - Jomtien may be a slightly sanitised version of Pattaya, but you can't bleach everything out - it was one of the very nicest hotels I have come across. Intimate, friendly ambience, well-appointed and very spacious rooms, good food at sensible prices, and absolutely first-class service, watched over by a delightful Thai-American couple who own and clearly cherish the place. The Thai-style houses in a beautifully landscaped and jungle-like environment stand out from the remainder of what Jomtien has to offer like chalk from cheese. And as a base for the excellent and inexpensive golf courses of the Eastern Gulf Coast it is ideal. Just a shame about what there is outside the gates - I don't mean to sound prudish, either; we just found most of Jomtien rather tacky and ugly and like Torremolinos with hormones.
But close your eyes by the adults-only pool (there's another for families), and you could be in a remote corner of Ko Lanta - it's that different from all the other joints in town.

Just returned from the very lovely Rabbit Resort in South Pattaya. Whilst Pattaya is not on our top ten list of places to return to, the Rabbit Resort is a wonderful oasis on the edge of the madness.
We stayed in a pool cottage which is a single storey 'stand alone' bungalow and only a few metres from the adults only pool. The rooms are truly beautiful, spotlessly clean and exactly like their website. I booked via email and negotiated a better deal than their website prices. The owner of the hotel Deb 'Rabbit' is truly amazing and goes all out to make everyones stay memorable.
Their beds were rock hard, but there was a sign in reception notifying guests that there are soft mattresses available and we had one within ten minutes of talking to Mrs Rabbit... it was fabulous. They also have free internet for their guests in reception.
There appeared a be a selection of all Nationalities from families, older and younger couples including same sex couples.
The Rabbit has a children only pool which is great for the readers and people wanting some real R & R.
Breakfast was a selection of all foods from Asian to European and the usual egg station where eggs were cooked to your liking.
The hotel is across a paved road to the beach where you can laze or get a massage or your nails manicured by the girls on the beach. I also noticed one night whilst eating at the restaurant that someone was 'going over' the beach with what looked like a metal detector which was a comforting thought. The paved road is a 'walking street' from 10:00 till 5:00 each day, but before and after those times the Rabbit runs a free electric tut tut down to the busy road where you can get a taxi bus to anywhere.
I cannot praise Deb and her staff at the Rabbit highly enough.
