We ended up in the Sheraton because our original 4* hotel we booked had major renovations going on and the travel company only told us this two weeks before we were due to travel. They offered a few alternatives, including several 3* hotels which had poor ratings. Eventually I accepted a small charge, £200 per person for the two weeks, to go in the Sheraton. It was a great decision.
One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in, well, they are individual villa type rooms, not a typical hotel. The pool area is beautiful, very clean and the pools are fantastic. Rooms are lovely, very clean and comfortable and the staff are so friendly.
The hotel is at the top of a hill above walking street so it's dead quiet during the day, and just a few minutes by tuk tuk or songtheuw at night to walking street.
Pattaya itself is pretty awful and not a patch on any other part of Thailand. It's smelly, very very sleazy and just not that pleasant. My wife and I love Thailand to bits and this is the only place we won't go back to, which is a shame because the hotel is superb.
