we arrived at this so called 4 star, it reminded me of a 1960s holiday camp, the room was dark and dingy, the pool had plastic chairs and bunting around, the reception, old worn furniture, dirt tablecloths, not what we expected. having stayed at a 3 star in phuket at christmas this was no were near as good, so much so we asked to be moved straight away, thomson use another company as their reps here, and it was very hard to get things sorted, but we went to the amari which was everthing and more that you would want from a 4 star, as a last min. cheap break away this place would be ok, but if you want proper 4 star then keep away

The Chaba Cabana is a lovely hotel, the rooms have more of an apartment feel than a hotel room and are extremely spacious I found the large fridge particularily useful for after sun, water etc. The beds are huge and although hard I found it very comfertable.
The maid service is very good although they occasionally forgot to replace the tea and coffee making facilities but there was always someone around to ask and they appeared almost immediately. The breakfast is served from 6.30 til 10.30 which is ideal for both early and late risers. The food selection is very good including pancakes, omlettes and eggs all made freshly to order.
The staff are all very helpful and extremely friendly. We didnt experience much of the entertainment but it seemed fairly low key. The hotel was very quiet in the evenings as everyone either seemed to stay in their rooms or head in to town. The first week we were there the hotel was apparantly full but did not seem crowded or too busy and there were still plenty of sunbeds available on the beach.
I would definately recommend this hotel to anyone as it is in an ideal location being on the beach and near the nightlife of Chaweng whilst still maintaining a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
