We arrived late afternoon after 4 nights in Bangkok. Check-in was fine and a porter took our bags and showed us to room 108. It's the only time we have asked to change rooms. Nothing wrong with it except that it was on the ground floor facing the main path between the entrance and reception. It didn't have net curtains and we didn't fancy spending 10 nights in a goldfish bowl. It was still low season and we were reassigned to room 201 without any problems. Just one floor higher but the privacy of our balcony made a huge difference. The room was very large and clean and contained one king size bed and a single bed, plenty of cupboard and drawer space. The bathroom was a decent size and clean, it had a shower and a bath and plenty of surfaces for bathroom essentials. Shower gel and liquid soap were in dispensers and shower cap, cotton buds, etc were also provided. The room was cleaned daily by a lovely cheerful maid but the time she came varied. Sheets were changed as required but there was a sign you could leave on the bed if you didn't require new sheets (good for the environment). Towels were changed daily whether or not they needed to be.
We stayed in the hotel block but other accommodation is provided in bungalows which we didn't think looked as nice. It's cheaper accommodation and I think a bit of TLC is required.
We did consider upgrading to a seaview room but when we looked around properly it seemed that sea view just meant the floor above ours from which you could see the sea but the rooms weren't beach front.
We had breakfast about half of the time we spent at the hotel. This was buffet style and had a good selection. You had to toast your own bread which wasn't a problem but the toaster took forever, I gave up one day and had croissants instead. There is also a chef who cooks eggs to order.
We didn't have an evening meal at the hotel so couldn't comment but lunch was fine. We did have a drink once in the bar/restaurant area, the same place where breakfast and lunch is served but it was a bit lacking in atmosphere.
The location, right on the beach, couldn't be faulted although we found the heat and humidity too hot for lying on the beach or beside the pool all day. I burnt using factor 30 after just a couple of hours so be careful.
The pool was small and I didn't use it but there were plenty of sunbeds around and towels are supplied by the hotel but you incur a fine if they are not returned. They keep a list of who's taken them.
The hotel is situated at the bottom end of Chaweng which is quieter but still very close to the hustle and bustle. There are plenty of taxis and buses as it's a fair old walk to the top end of town.
There is internet access available in the reception area at a cost of 1 baht per minute, minimum 10 baht charge although if you go to the Sportsman Bar up the road the internet is free although they only have 2 terminals.
Reception staff could have been a little friendlier but we have no real complaints here.
All in all, it's a decent 3 star hotel in a good location.
