First of all we were a bit weiry about booking a holiday in The Gambia because we did not now what to expect, there are not many places with short flights to go for a winter break where it is hot, and make no mistake this place was hot, 35 degrees in December, beats all the Canary islands hands down, for an extra two hours flight what a differance in climate.
Any way back to the holiday, flew from Bristol everything went smooth no problems, we landed after a pleasant flight went through customs and then it hit us the airport porters were a bit in your face grabbing your cases to carry to the bus other people asking for money and to change pound coins into notes it felt like we in a film set for Indiana Jones film, we finaly got on the bus it took about half an hour to get to the hotel going through very poor areas.
The hotel is very clean bell boys carried all of our cases to the room everyone in reception very nice, rooms basic and dated but very clean our rooms only had showers in them, fresh blankets and towels daily whitch was good and aircon good, if you wanted more towels and pillows no problem see Alpha in reception and he will sort anything out, what a man from advising and booking all our evening resturants to arranging taxis.
The main restaurant food a little bit bland but fresh, very little entertainment in evening african music and dancing and a pool table in the bar. I now understand this type of holiday is very lazy in the day a trip out to a local restaurant eat exellent food, and a night cap back at the hotel and bed for 11.oclock, my daughter nine and friend eleven kept themselves active in the day but due to the heat they were tired early so we did not care for much entertainment in the evenings.
I have been many times to the caribbean and this place is mirror image, the beach is the best i have seen the sea clean some locals harasses you but you have to be polite and direct and say no please leave us,and they will respect your wishes and go away.

we stayed for two weeks in this hotel and to be honest it was an excellent hotel.
the rooms were spotlessly clean and the bars public places also clean..
all the staff were friendly and helpful although most of them were trying to get something out of you.
either by offering to take you to their homes or on trips..
we found the prices in this hotel was a little pricey..eg--half beer
