On first impressions we were very disappointed with the hotel rooms. Its seems that some blocks were built sooner than others. Whilst room 557 was large and kept clean, it was rather basic and in need of new decor. Having said that, the grounds of the hotel are kept immaculate, the staff are fantastic and the beach location amazing. With regards to food, breakfast was very poor and evening meals were quite adequate. Due to the constant badgering from the shop locals, I think it is very unlikely I would travel to Tunisia again, but if I did, I would stay in the Fourati again. Just not in rooms beginning with a 5.

When we arrived at 2am our family of 4 were shown to 2 rooms both had three beds. Not what I had booked, I booked a family room with 4 beds. They promised us we would get our family room in the morning. Next morning still no room they said the next day. The reception staff were unhelpful. In the end I rang the rep and we got moved to another hotel, much cleaner and the staff at the new hotel couldn't do enough for us unlike the Fourati.
I would not recomend this hotel from the bit I did see it can only be described as in need of a big refurbishment.

When we first arrived it looked lovely, the gardens and the plants were wonderful.
The rooms are very big but very basic we felt that it could have done with a fridge and maybe a tv.
Wherever we looked it was very clean but could do with a little touch up here and there.
The room cleaners were there as soon as you left the room and were very friendly and with in half an hour the room was clean and tidy again, even my nightwear was folded presentive on the bed.
The breakfast was ok. Choises of cereal and bread rolls and sweet cake/bread. The evening meal was great every night a different choice each time. We could have had done with a little more Tunisian food as we like to try different food. But it was lovely and a great choice also for vegetarians, and kids.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids entertainer were loved by young and old.
We did 2 trips as well which were great value for the money. The camel ride was great and fun for the whole family. Also the pirate boat trip was fantastic but not for people who easiely get seasick. To the dolphines was just out of this world and the pirates were great, too.

I travelled my two children and my mum for the October 2004 half-term and we were allocated two really large rooms overlooking lush gardens and the sea.
The location right by the beach is superb. The hotel is apparently the oldest in Hammamet and in some areas it needs to be refurbished. The toilets near the disc bar could have been cleaner. I think the 800 rooms are the best and we were lucky to be in these.
What really made our holiday so enjoyable was the friendly entertainment staff. My son (12 years old) was encouraged to do activities as was my daughter (who had her seventh birthday out there.) She just loved the whole holiday, particularly the mini disco every night with the most amazing entertainer ever (Fou Fou). He is such a wonderful dancer and was so friendly to everyone.
The beach is clean but the beach sellers were a bit of a pain. With food in hotels it always gets bit samey and this was true here. There was always variety in the main course but the starters and dessert were virtually the same everyday.
We loved it, but I could see if you were allocated one of the side rooms you might be disappointed. We would certainly consider going back again, but I fear it would not be the same without FOU Fou if he had moved on.

This was the first time we had gone to Tunisia.
Although the Hotel was an hour away from the airport, we had a Thomas cook rep with us telling us about locations.
Although the hotel was nothing to look at from the road, once you entered, through the gates, beautiful kept gardens were in front of you. Reception staff were not that friendly and the man that took our luggage to our room was going to stay the night if he didn

For these past two years( 2003, 2004) our holiday was planned to be spent at Tunisia.
Our accomodation was at Hotel Fourati in Hammamet which was an incredible one. Since me and my sister are youths we enjoyed most of all the entertaiment. We enjoyed most of all participating in the sports activities organised by the animators and we also liked a lot the Snoopy Club. The shows were nice most of all the Cabaret Show.
The hotel staff are very friendly especially the animators. My sister and I are looking forward to visiting the Hotel Fourati next year.
Keep it up.

I and my friend Viv stayed at The Fourati from April 24 to May 1 2005. We booked this hotel because we wanted a cheap and cheerful holiday to relax.
The location was excellent with the beach being right on the doorstep.
The gardens were well kept, but we found the pools a bit unkempt (the best being the big outdoor pool by the beach and the worst being the other smaller outdoor pool just beside the indoor pool).
Maid service was good and our room was cleaned every day.
We stayed in the 800 rooms (apparently these rooms are the better ones) and were delighted to find we had a fridge!
Yes, the reception staff are miserable, but the rest of the staff, especially the entertainment team were very friendly. Fou Fou and Samir (the DJ) were excellent.
The disco bar is very plush and we danced almost every night after the programmed entertainment.
Everyone expects a tip, but most of the hotel staff work very hard and when you consider the average wage is 5 Dinars (about

This hotel doesnt look much from the outside, but when you pass throught the gates, the beautifully maintained gardens are a pleasant surprise. The room was huge! Room for six people easily, so two adults and two kids had loads of space. Relatively clean, however the loo begun to whiff after a couple of days. We had a bath, which we all preferred to a shower, as you get some control over the temperature.! The location was FANTASTIC! Right on the beach, with a bar. The beach was sandy, and immaculate, plenty of sun beds, and.....beach sellers! You can purchase everything from fruit to carpets on this beach. I found it fun, but others got a little annoyed. There are lots of watersports on this beach, banana boat, para sending, water ski, jet ski, but the swimming area is protected from "traffic" by ropes and buoys. The best thing was the donut man who charged along every day with the best donuts ever, which was lucky cos the hotel food was not to my taste. I found it boring and samey, and filled up at breakfast intead of bothering too much with the evening meal. If we went there again, we would go b&b, and eat out in the evening. Kids snoopy disco was fun, and there was a few entertainment evenings, (snakes and scorpions man).Drinks in the hotel are expensive, and we got stung
