The hotel is Clean but remote. Tunisian 4 star is not the same as 4 star in Spain!! You are not allowed to bring food and water into the hotel, we had 3 bottles of water and several packets of crisps/snacks taken off us at the hotel gates! Apparently taking water into the hotel is against Tunisian Law! 1.5L Water costs over a pound in the hotel, you'll need about 4/5 of these each/day, so bring water and snacks in a rucksack. We had 2 rooms, (long story, not the hotels fault!) The first one in the gardens was tired and needed minimal repairs to bring it up to a reasonable standard. e.g. a shower head wall fitting would have been nice! A working remote for the tv (only one english speaking channel.) Balcony furniture looks like it was made in a school and for midgets. The second room was totally different, it was in the main hotel block and was lovely with pool and sea views, excellent fittings. Only one beer to choose from at the bar, but prices are reasonable. Live music in the american bar 3 times a week, is better than the animacion teams efforts in the evening, which consisted of the standard multi language bingo, sketches, routines, kids disco etc. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful, but fairly average stuff. The hotel gift shop was a tad expensive. The hotel next door has a nice water park attached, excellent for the kids, although you are not informed of this at the welcome meeting? The cost is around 8TD about 4 pounds. The thomas cook rep, Kate is extremely helpful and dedicated.

We stayed at this hotel for 10 days and did the Sahara tour. We didn't often stay by the pool mainly because it was too hot and because the pool was a sea water pool and sun bed cost 3 dinar a day and if you wanted the cushion for on top that was an extra dinar. In the mornings the hotel smelt of diesel and the carpets were dirty. The overall cleaniness of the hotel was good but, it is rather worn and certainly not worth its 4star rating. The hotel bar staff are great and really friendly even though we found the resturant staff rather rude and the food well I can only say that there is plenty to choose from but, it tastes very bland and of absolutely nothing. Our rep was never there and we had to book all our excursion through Kate the Thomas cook Rep who is very friendly and enthusiastic a lovely women. The beech at Skanes is dirty and not quite like the photo in the brochure.
I think this holiday is what you make it and if you have stayed in three star and two star hotels else where the only disappointment you will find with this hotel is it is meant to be 4star and you are not getting your moneys worth. We did have a great holiday in saying that but, it is one place i wouldn't visit again. We read a similar report to ours before we left and thought the person was just moaning but, we found out otherwise.

There was plenty of food, never short of what to choose from. The hotel was kept very clean and your room was done every day, clean towels and bed sheets. The location was in a quiet part which suited us as we dont want to be in the heart of all the hussle and bussle. The hotel complex was very good, everything you wanted was there. The hotel staff could not do enough for you and they spoke excellent English. The entertainment was the only thing the hotel lacked, it had its own night club, but it was way too hot in there as the air conditioning was not working. I would recomend this hotel to anyone who just wants a relaxing holiday and also it had a Thalasso therapy center there which gave excellent masages.

Just got back from a week here... ideal location - airport transfer was only about 10 minutes and the weather was fabulous!
The rooms were a little bit tired - the hotel was obviously built a while ago and my four year old daughter cut her toes a few times on the pool steps. The sea water swimming pool was a bit much on the eyes! But the pontoon with the bar at the end ( in the sea ) was lovely.
There was plenty of choice of food each evening and the staff were very helpfull and friendly. There was a guy called charlie who organised trips independantly - he visits the hotel every day and is extremely helpfull and trustworthy.

This hotel is better than most of the people who have wrote the reviews on this page try to make you believe.
We have been to this hotel on many occasions, with no complaints at all. The staff are very friendly and very helpful.
You ALWAYS get the correct exchange rate at the reception desk, the same as you would anywhere in Tunisia. The food is varied, but if you don't like anything on offer, ask the chef, he will be prepared to do something to your liking. Or did these people expect Fish and Chips like back at home.
On the subject of entertainment. If you think that the entertainment at the Miramar is in short supply, try the Mahaba Club in Sousse, THERE IS NONE AT ALL.
Altogether I find that the Miramar Hotel is well worth the money, what more do you want for
