Our room was spotless, the maid came every day and our towels and beds were changed as often as we requested. The hotel itself is very clean, my only whinge would be that you are able to smoke in the bar and seating area and its not great if you are a non smoker and if you have got kids with you.
Staff on the whole were great, a special hello to our dining room waiter Sammy, who took care of us during our stay. As mentioned a dinar tip goes a long way, however sometimes wondered what we had paid a tip for! A lot of Brits there felt that we were targeted over and above our fair share because other nationalities are not so generous. It can get a little tedious tipping every 5 seconds but you do get used to it.
The management did leave a little to be desired, we had a problem while we were there and spoke to a guy who told us that he was not the manager and said that the manager was busy. The next day we found out that the man we had spoken to was in fact the manager and when confronted about it he admitted he was in charge but didnt want to deal with us at the time because he was busy!!! We have considered trying his tactics in our own jobs ha ha!
I did not really rate the animation team, they were all friendly but not much good for our 10 year old.Must mention Abdul who worked hard and tried to involve the kids there. Most of the activites were aimed at teens and upwards and most interest was directed to those of the female persuasion!! However the kids that were there made their own fun so it wasnt too much of a problem. Entertainment was ok, was a little suprised to see we were expected to pay for entertainment on a couple of occasions but i guess they will make a buck where they can. Same applies to sunbeds round the pool. A dinar for each bed was a suprise for us, especially as we seemed to be the only nationality that was subject to the charge, the good news is that sunbeds on the beach are free and the view is lovely.
The hotel is in a great location, there is nothing bad that can be said. The beach is to die for and the white sand goes on for ever. Jellyfish were an issue when we were there, our boy had a nasty sting but incase you fall victim, rub fresh tomato on it and it will heal quickly.
I think that we would return to the Marhaba beach, over all we had a great relaxing holiday. The place does need a revamp its very dated in parts, but as we said before its spotless and the food is great. I think we would prefer to go slightly out of season, when there are less people hassling you for cash everywhere. We made the mistake of going for a walk on the beach one night after 5 mins my partner had been given several 'gifts' which strangely cost 5 dinar and included some manky nuts and a lawrence of arabia head dress. It gave us a laugh but it can be quite intimidating because saying no doesnt seem to be enough, you have to be very insistant and then some of them are rude to you.

The food was very varied and all but the fussiest eater would find something to please
The staff were efficient and very friendly, often helped by a small tip (1dinar-40p). The snack bar was open in the nearby Maharba hotel and was very cheap
fillet steak/salad/chips/and 1/2 bottle of reasonable local wine about 5 pounds!
Rooms were cleaned every day and were very comfy.
All in all a very good holiday, and I would visit again with no hesitation

The staff were very friendly although they do expect a tip for everything (1 dinar) about 45 pence. That is there way of life out there and just is what is expected. We did not mind at all as the service was fantastic. The sheets were changed nearly everyday, the towels everyday in both our room and my sons.
The food in the hotel is very good, nobody was ill,and we gained loads of weight.
The location of the hotel is the best there, it is right on a white sandy beach. We checked out others while we were there and we all agreed without doubt it was the best.
My sons aged 4,11 and 15 are begging me to go back they loved it so much. Once we have been somewhere we rarely go back as we like to travel as many countries as possible. But my partner and myself are going straight back asap it was fantastic.
Can I also just say that anyone going with young children, expect your children to be treated as superstars or royalty. They love children so much and I mean they all do it's their culture. My two sons had a birthday on holiday and on both days (2 days apart) they had flowers on the table over dinner then a individual birthday cake, which the chef decorated with happy birthday and their name. Also a big basket of lovely fresh fruit in the rooms. All this was totally free. Fantastic.

The food was great, with plenty of choice in the buffet style meals, always something different to choose from each night.
The hotel was very clean and the staff very polite & helpful. You get used to giving them a Dinar (or so) tip and as its only 40p it won't break the bank!
The grounds and pool areas looked good although we didn't use them much as it was a little cold for swimming in March!!
The night-time entertainment was a little dire & the chap on the electric organ still performs each night and is awful but entertaining never the less!!
I would go back to this hotel again. Recommended.

Food was good if you like buffet style and fish!
But all the staff very friendly. They never do something for nothing we where always tipping. And I would not go in November as the weather was not very good it was very cloudy.
All the facilites where good the outdoor pools lovely but the indoor pool needs a bit of attention but massages are great and cheap.
Entertainment at night was a bit poor only 2 shows on and the rest of the time just a man on a keyboard. But we are in our early twenties and it is very good for the older generation there where lots there that where staying for a few months.

The dining room was also luxurious except for the space between tables, there wasn't much room to get in and out with a plate full in your hands.
It must have been awful during the high season as there was no air conditioning in the dining room.
The food was good with plenty of choice for everyone. Also available for breakfast are fresh eggs made on the spot and crepes. Puddings were great. I know I've put on some extra pounds this week.
The entertainment was dire, Old bloke on an organ playing 50's music. One animator trying to keep the kids happy. (not many kids here though, during school time)
Not many young people at this hotel when we went.
Weather was hot. Staff very helpful but don't forget to tip them or you'll be ignored. One dinar isn't much to us (40p) but a lot to them.
We mainly used the facilities of the sister hotel the Tour Khalef (There's a short cut to the pool area in front of the Marahaba beach entrance) which was more geared up for families.
There was a vibrant buzz around the pool area and the two animators there did their best with pathetic sound equipment for the evening entertainment.
All in all we had a great time using all the Marhaba complex facilities. I would certainly go again but not to this hotel and not for a few years.
Hope this helps. I'm sure high season is better if you can put up with crowds and the heat.
