Location
Waiters were extremely friendly and went out of their way to make sure I had a variety of vegetarian options - which was cooked especially for me.
Rooms very spacious and very clean, with a lovely view over the pool area. Beware of going out to the pool area though as a waiter out there will get you one as soon as you walk into the area and then expect a tip!!! Not so bad at 1st but it soon adds up by the end of the week!
Really lovely hotel though and would recommend it highly, just shame about the location.

The hotel was clean and the food was fine - I got sick of hearing people say that the English breakfast was rubbish - you are on holiday in a different country, why would you want to eat bacon and eggs? As Tunisia is a Muslim country they don't eat pork so you won't be having bacon.
I didn't feel safe leaving the hotel, which is probably why it is self contained. The nightclub was a hideous experience where we were hassled continuously and offered drugs. When you walk down the street people stop and look at you. The resort is aimed at French, German and British, but most of the locals make you feel unwelcome.
The whole place was hideous and I will never return to Tunisia

Our room was fine although our TV was broken and was not fixed over the course of the 2 weeks, though to be fair we did not press to have this done as we didn't miss it at all!
You have the same waiter for the duration of your stay and ours was lovely and efficient and this applied to all the other staff as well. Special mention must go to the waiter by the pool and also to Ali in the piano bar!
The outside pool was freezing but fine once you started swimming, and there is a heated indoor pool. These were cleaned and swept every day. Some of the sunbeds did have a few cracks in them, but they worked fine and were comfy once the mat was in place!
You do need to be prepared to tip everyone, but this becomes a habit.
I thought that the location of the hotel was much better than say those in Port El Kantaoui (a horribly fake resort), as it is centrally located in a traditional Tunisian town and close to the beach. It is also a perfect base to explore the whole country as we went up to the capital in the North and to the Sahara in the South!
I would definitely return to Tunisia and also to this hotel, as the staff and the location were fantastic!

The outside swimming pool was large though few people appeared to be using it. The lights at the side of the pool were not working and wires could be seen where the glass should have been! I hoped that the electricity would not be switched on!! The pool walls were very dirty and during the week we were there there did not appear to be any attempt to clean the pool.
The poolside furniture was tatty to say the most. Broken beds and umbrellas were the norm and most of it should have been discarded a few seasons back. We were found beds every day, again for a suitable "tip".
Food was the worst feature in its sheer monotony. The breakfast croissants were lovely and we can vouch for the pancakes but baked potato for breakfast!??
All the meat seemed to be well cooked but it was nearly always served warm. Yes we did succumb to "Delhi Belly" and Immodium seemed to be the standby of many of the guests. Towards the end of our week there was a definite improvement in the food quality-following complaints- and it was hot. Wine is good and reasonable, but don't go for whisky or brandy afterwards- it will set you back

Had a lovely holiday, but found ourselves getting bored by the end of the week so were glad we hadnt booked for a fortnight.
Ultimately, this hotel is pleasent, and definately one of the best in the area, but in need of a refurb. We got the impression that it had been quite grand, maybe ten years ago, but the cracks are beginning to show, and although our room was very nice, the shower soaked the whole bathroom when it was turned on, tiles were cracked, and there were exposed wires on the balcony that i wouldnt have felt comfortable about, if we'd had children with us.
Entertainment in the hotel is rare (a jazz band visit a few times a week), but their english is limited, so songs we recognised were things like When The Saints Go Marching In, and Auld Langs Eyne....not exectly lively, maybe better for an older crowd, but were both 21 so we didnt really enjoy staying in the hotel in the evening.
Luckily, the hotel has a small shopping centre attached (but dont get too excited, ladies, unless youre after fake dolce and gabanna jeans, im afraid youll be disappointed). Within the shopping centre was an "english pub", full of tunisian men trying to find a lovely english lady; they can be quite pushy and make going to the bar alone uncomfortable, so i wouldnt recommend ladies going without a man to protect them from the locals.
Theres a big culture gap, as long as you expect it, and dress accordingly when you leave the hotel, it should be fine.
Worth a mention is Port el Kantoui; maybe I havent spelt it right? theres a nice little harbour and some lovely fish restaurants.
The hotel offers a tunisian themed evening, for which you have to pay extra, or eat your evening meal outside the hotel. We took lunch instead of dinner on this day and took the oppertunity to visit the port; glad we did.
Worth avoiding is the old town of Sousse; we found it quite scarey, actually, being dragged into shops, jumped infront of by traders. Obviously, the economy in Tunisia isnt fantastic, but this made us feel uncomfortable, and we just wanted to get out of the place. Luckily, we could barge through, but if we were an elderly couple i think it couldve posed a problem.
Overall, we enjoyed our holiday, the weather was lovely and the food was great. Our room needed a revamp, but the tv worked, as did the air con, and it was kept lovely and clean by the maid who liked to make swans out of my pyjamas.
I would visit Tunisia again, but would maybe choose a hotel which had entertainment aimed at english-speaking couples/families. After a day lounging by the pool, we felt our only highlight of the evening was eating our dinner; then it fell flat. there wasnt much around the hotel, and so we relied upton the hotel to provide entertainment, but with the absence of an entertainment team, we felt our evenings fell a little flat, and so we ended up watching english football in the english pub (which is soimething id avoid like the plague if I was at home!!).
If you are considering this hotel for a family holiday, I wouldnt recommend it. If youve found a cheap deal here, as a couple, and all you want is a week in the sun, eating and drinking, then its ok; but I, personally, would recommend you consider what youll do in the evening, as good evening entertainment really does make your holiday.
