I've travelled to Gumbet with Goldtrail before, but the last time was 5 years ago, and since then, there have been some bad reviews of the company, so I didn't know what to expect. I booked the holiday over the phone, and the agent I spoke to was very knowledgable about the resort and the location of the accommodation.
We arrived at the Golden Park apartments at about 6am, we were greeted by the owner and his son, who helped us with our bags, and asked us if there was anything he could do to make our stay there better, just let them know. Goldtrail hadn't told the owner that we had amended our booking 6 weeks earlier, and there was an extra adult travelling with us, but it caused no problems - we had booked a 1-bedroom apartment so there were 4 beds anyway. We brought a travel cot with us for the baby, but the apartment already had a cot bed set up ready for us. Throughout our whole stay there, all the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even offered to move us to a lower level apartment, which we hadn't asked for, as we had no complaints about our accommodation. The apartment was big, had a fantastic power shower with hot water no matter what time of day or night, comfy beds, and air conditioning in the bedroom.
The apartment was cleaned daily, this was a major task for the maids, as we had a 3-year old and a 1-year old with us, so there was always toys, books etc strewn all over the place! Our beds were always made, floors and bathroom thoroughly cleaned, and during our 1-week stay, the sheets and towels were changed twice.
I used to live in Gumbet, so know the resort very well, and the location of the apartments is great for families - its only a couple of minutes walk to the bottom of Bar street, which has lots of bars, restaurants, and shops. Its far enough away so you don't hear any noise at all at nightime, so you can get a good nights sleep. The other main street in Gumbet, Adnan Menderes street, is a 10-minute walk past the police station (including a very steep hill) - but as we weren't in any hurry, we usually walked along Bar Street to get there (no hills to climb with pushchairs!).
The apartment has a barbecue on Friday nights, but we didn't go, so I don't know how it went. All of the apartments overlook the pool, which is treated and cleaned daily, and there is a poolside bar and restaurant, which stays open as long as you like.
The only complaint I have about the apartments is, while we were there, we were disturbed a couple of nights by other guests making a lot of noise at the pool bar late at night (ie 3am and 5am). The owner did his best to keep things quiet, and I guess you can get inconsiderate neighbours wherever you go on holiday.
I would definitely visit these apartments again, mostly because of the owner and his family, nothing is too much trouble for them.
