I found the staff ok but it helped if you was 18 years old and bikini clad. The food was above average in the hotel but Rosys resturant on ladies beach was much better value for money and taste!
Beware of the hotel pool as there is no shallow end which is not to good if you have children who are not strong swimmers!
Some lower level rooms over look the pool bar and I found the privacy thing a bit of a issue. In my opinion overall carina is a clean small basic hotel, I enjoyed elements of my holiday ( ladies beach ) but I would not return to Carina hotel.

Also they don't tell you in the brochure about only getting one toilet roll free on arrival. Balconies are very small not much room to fit the table and chairs.
Hotel food ok, but everything came with chips, rice mash and veg. You got fed up with it by the end of the two weeks.
Hotel location only 5 mins by dolmus either way to Ladies beach or Kusadasi centre for 40p. Down side was that First Choice denied that there are 2 open air nightclubs opposite apartments which were very loud 8 days out of the 14, not good when you have children.
Hotel staff frinedly especially reception staff, but waiters and bar staff too friendly if you are a young girl on your own or in a group of girls.
Entertainment is nearly non exsistent except the odd films on big screen and the welcome bbq night and saturday roast dinner that is it.
We will not be staying in these apartments again turned out not to be the Turkey we know, no friendliness or hospitality anymore, we just got the feeling they were only after your money, and nothing for children to do in the apartments.
If it had been our first time in Turkey it would have been the last give me Calis beach anyday.

The rooms were cleaned to a high standard every day with regular clean towels and sheet changes every few days. The food was reasonably priced and quite good. The staff were friendly and seemed to be on duty all day and most of the night, I don't think they went to bed! They provided us with a laugh all day and entertainment of a night.
We had a nice free welcome meal on the Tuesday night and was invited again on our second week. The drinks were a little overpriced than in town but this is to be expected.
The mini market was a mere cupboard really, but if you were desperate then it was always on hand. Be warned, the prices in the mini market were virtually double than the large "Migros", so we did our main shopping there. It was handy at 8 in the morning if we wanted fresh bread.
The location was great, one way to the main town, 40p by dolmus, and if you wanted a quiter night, or to visit the beach then you go in the other direction to ladies beach, again 40p on the dolmus, these ran literally every 2 mins.
I would visit this hotel again tomorrow, it was one of the best i have ever been to in all the years i have been abroad, however, there is one snag, opposite the hotel there is a club called Jade right on the beach. One tip--make sure your'e in bed and asleep by 12.30, otherwise you won't get to sleep until 4.00am! I have never heard music so loud from a club, god know's what it was like to actually be in the club! Don't get me wrong, I like Gloria Gaynor's I will survive, but not a 3am in the morning when we had to get up at 7am the following morning to visit the wonderful water park! However, a lot of the nights we were hot and sweaty so once we paid for air cond. (

The pool was cleaned each day and the water was tested daily.
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
On arrival there was a bottle of water, teabags, milk, sugar and biscuits in the apartment. Tuesday evening a beautiful welcome meal was laid on, completely FREE.
The entertainment was excellent. There was a lovely sea view from each apartment.
We could not fault the accommodation and look forward to going back.

You do need to be aware that the swimming pool has no shallow end (although there is a separate pool for children) and that it narrows in the centre making it unsafe for people diving or jumping in.
You also need to be aware that around the perimeter wall broken glass has been cemented in to the tops of the walls, probably to stop people breaking in, and at the time we were there a young man climbed on it to retrieve a ball and cut his hands and feet to shreds. The reception area did not have a first aid kit and need to get one! Luckily I am a first aider and had the necessary equipment to treat him myself.
The 'mini market' is very very expensive but is handy for ice creams and drinks on hot days.
That said, we have booked again for May 2006!

The hotel room was bigger than I thought it would be, the cleaners were very friendly even though they didn't speak much English but they kept the room very clean even though we tried as well.
The hotel food was real good but we didn't eat there much.
The location was good but it was on top of a hill so it was ok going into the town but not coming back up.
The hotel staff were excellent they didn't seem to get much sleep because they were taking care of the guests and the hotel it

The cleaning staff are top class and nothing is too much trouble.
All the staff are more than friendly and it is great having your luggage carried up and down the stairs. Top marks all round.
Would definitely recommend Carina to anyone.

Apart from the hill, the location of the apartments is ideal. Ladies beach and the resort centre are only a short walk away.
The staff were great and even took English names to make things easier for the guests.
The rooms were everything that you needed and were cleaned every day.
I would recommend the Carina Studio Apartments to anyone planning to visit Kusadasi.
