Very quiet but lovely...within easy reach of most other places. Good selection of bars and restaurants and everyone very helpful and not at all pushy. Will certainly visit again.

Oratakent was a lovely Turkish corner with one of the best beaches, although it is starting to be a bit more built up as the newist hotel (oppersite hotel light house) already under construction (don't worry about this though there is no noise or diggers) Hotel lighthouse if one of the biggest and best with 4 plus stars along the beach front, although it is a longer walk to the taverners can be up to 20 minuets in very hot heat and burning sand, but it still retains its rural Turkish charm with little shops and botiques selling excellent designer fakes (there is one man along ther who does not hassel you in to buying his stuff, put it down to being married to an English lady, they are really cheap and amazing quality, definitely a must have!!) As Ortakent is on the coast it is trated to a lovely sea breeze unlike Bodrum, which on adverage is 3 degees hotter. You must catch a dolmus (which means squished in Turkish) you will understand when you use one.

Lovely resort with many friendly restauarants catering for the " chips with everything brigade " to traditional turkish fortunately no Mcdonalds in site. Plenty of sunbeds and parasols to keep you out of the sun when it gets too hot.

The resort of Ortakent was reasonably quiet but offered a nice selection of restaurants, shops & bars. For a livelier nightlife, get the dolmus to Bodrum or Gumbet. The resort of Turgetreis was also a short hop on the dolmus & is very pretty.
The main beach/camel beach is very clean with a selection of beach cafes & watersports. Safe for swimming as well.
Even though Ortakent was quite quiet it was nice to stay here then travel into the busier resorts if wanted.

Not very clean, dogs everywhere, bins were somtimes left for days before empting. Not as lively as Gumbit and Bodrum both a bus(Dolmus)ride away, about 45 minites to Bodrum and from there you can get to Gumbit.Beaches are very grity but they spend hours sifting it.We found a couple of nice places to eat Vera,s,and Jimmys but Iam sure there are many more.

A clean sandy beach, the sea temp was good also it is really shallow which makes it safe for children swimming. Further along you can book sailing lessons, and the usual water sports

The resort of Ortakent is about 1.20 from the airport on a very scenic journey...sit on the right hand side of the coach for the journey to the hotel for the best views and 25 minutes from Bodrum.
The Dolmus or minibuses stop outside the hotel when flagged and are incredibly cheap...just get on and pay the driver and stay on for as long as you like. We travelled on them constantly to every resort within 20 miles.
Avoid the British hotspots ..they are hell on earth where you are stopped by cafe owners constantly and the lights and noise is vile.
The sand and beaches are beautifully clean. If you go in early Oct they are also empty and the sea is really warm.
Hotel beach is gritty greyish sand with rocks on the waters edge but around the bay is the proper stuff. Nearest shops (basic) and cafes are a short walk around the bay. Very pleasant walk in the balmy evening air.
Beware the restaurant with the windmill on the head of the bay...nasty food..shame cos it had great music! N.B.The Lighthouse hotel has no shop close by and on arrival there wasn't any bottled water in the room so make sure you have some for your first night or it could get expensive buying it from the hotel.
Nearest supermarket is on the way to Bodrum. About 10 minutes into the journey on Dolmus...I think its called Marko...its on the left and has loads of flags outside. You can get the driver to stop as soon as you see it. Its just like Tescos!
To end..yes we would love to go back to this hotel and the area ....we had a fab holiday there.

Ortakent is lovely nice beach with some bars and resturants we found that a lot of the Turks seem to holiday there, not a great deal of entertainment but the bus takes you to Gubet/Bodrum 15-20 mins away, Very clean and a good place to go if you want to relax.

This resort is spotless so much so that you are fined if you drop cig ends or rubbish. It has only a few restaurants and bars and to be honest not much else. You do need to go to Gumbet, Bitez or Bodrum if you want lively but the bus station is only 100yds away and they run every 10mins or the taxis will take you from the same station and its only a ten minute run.
The beach is really clean and uncrowded and all the sunbeds are free. We are already booked to go back later this year as this place is so nice.
