Dalyan itself is a beautiful resort with many bars and restaurants. The people there are lovely and cannot do enough to help you. We have been visiting Dalyan for 3 years now and cannot wait to come back again and again !

Dalyan is on the river, inland from the beautiful beach at Iztuzu, where the turtles breed. This is easily reached by the numerous boats from the town jetty, and only 5 lire for the return 40 minute boat ride. This is a conservation area, and is really lovely. There are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants and bars. The resort has a very laid back friendly feel to it, and we loved it.Plenty of Dolmus buses to other resorts, such as Olu Deniz or Fethiye if needed. This resort is very much like Turkey used to be 20 years ago when we first started to come.

This resort is a little jewel on the med. The small town is fairly charming and its people are without exception, the most friendliest, trusting and helpful we have come accross in 16 years of package holidaying. We will be doing our upmost to stay in this resort again next holiday.

Dalyan for me is the perfect holiday resort. It is quiet (when the mosque isn't calling people to prayer) and it is so far unspoilt. It has the perfect blend of commerciality and local colour.
If you want to be next to nature but also want to wine and dine at little expense then Dalyan is ideal. We ate out every night. The most we spent was £30.
Beach is heaven on earth with fantastic facilities if you have young children (and an old husband). Boat trip was perfect - £19 for three of us (inc great lunch) and fabulous for swimming and tanning.
Good Saturday market for fakes and foods. Buy the local insect repellent as the stuff we took from home was no good. I got bitten to bits but then I always do.
Look out for crane's nests in strange places especially if you go early in the year when they are teaching their little ones to fly.
Best restaurant - all of them, but really liked Barbeque Garden and the hand made see saw. Watch out for the little rabbit that lives here and runs freely.

This was the first time i have stayed in DALYAN although i have been there for day excurtions while staying at other resorts....I was not dissapointed..DALYAN is a large village with lots of typical Turkish tradition & plenty to do,excellent restaurants with reasonable prices, facinating rock tombs built into the mountain side, mud baths which are fun to visit, and the beautiful unspoilt " Turtle" beach best reached by one of the riverboats which takes you through the reed beds to the sea, beautiful scenery (cost was £2 return )...The water on "Turtle" beach is very clean & shallow so would be ideal for children & non swimmers..Dalyan is a must for those not wanting the noise & hassle that some other resorts offer..an added bonus is that it's only 30 min. transfer from Dalaman airport.. PERFECT...

A wonderful resort if you like bird watching (feathered variety), fishing, and boat trips - it's a bit larger than a village but not quite a town. There are plenty of good restaurants and bars though the resort isn't lively. There is a market every Saturday. A dolmus service runs daily to Marmaris or Fethiye.
The beach is approximately 40 minutes by water taxi. We only visited once as the sun beds were of poor quality, quite expensive to hire, and not near the sea due to the nesting area of the loggerhead turtles. Worth a visit if only to walk along and for the ride in the water taxi.

Dalyan is clean in the centre although around some of the back streets there is some litter (unfortunately dropped by tourists). The town is safe to walk around at all hours.
Dalyan has a quiet and relaxed atmosphere during the day, with plenty of shops and restaurants. In the evenings, the centre of town is closed to traffic and the restaurants and bars spread out on to the pavements providing lively yet friendly and safe atmosphere.
The beach at Iztuzu (Blue flag and a nature reserve)is reached by Dolmus(20 minutes) or boat(40 minutes)with approximately 6Kms of sandy and gently slopping beach provides quiet and safe place for swimming.
Our advice: Take the water bus from Dalyan then walk to the far end where the Dolmus stop is and eat at the cafe there as the food is cheaper and better quality than the cafe at the boat dock. Please remember to observe the rules about beach chairs and umbrellas, as there is a clearly marked boundary where turtles come ashore to lay their eggs.
There are other places to see: Take the river ferry ( rowboats operated by sisters) over the river and walk to the Caunos ruins (about an hour each way). Take a boat excursion or dolmus to Koycegiz. For a romantic evening take a BBQ-Star tour on the Koycegiz lake and look at the stars (the milky way is visible)it's an incredible sight.
To sum up. If you want a relaxing holiday go to Dalyan, if you want lots of English people, English breakfast, noisy bars and clubs don't go to Dalyan.

Dalyan is a gorgious town. The locals are also very friendly. Every restaurant I went to had superb food and the waiters are always nice.I strongly recommend the Fun Tullip restaurant and bar, the food itself is great but the waiters are also very nice. The restaurant has great entertainment with traditional Turkish dancing and at the end they drag other people up to dance with them.
Going to the beach I recomend taking the water taxi it's a 45 minute ride but if your lucky you might see some turtles on the way.
