FLIGHT - great - Thomas Cook.
TRANSFER - mmm- not just two hours as told. people experience between 2 1/2 - 5 hour transfers to and from hotel/airport. and they don't warn you about the mountain peeks you have to go up and down to get there. Very small narrow roads ( remind you of italy) but dirt tracks! no barriers to the edges and a long way down!
CHECK-IN/ARRIVAL - knackered! no info meeting. just an A4 sheet telling you times of opening/closing for meals and drinks.
ROOMS - club rooms - only 3* addiquate. Dark. smaller ceiling height, therefore felt cramped. Very small balcony. have to pay for fridge and safe.
- hotel rooms - 4* balony facing mountain rock face, but light and bright. pay for safe, fridge free, hairdryer ect.
FACILITIES - swimming pools ect. excellent fun on water slides, turned on between 10.30 - 12 & 2 - 5. Annimation team to entertain you day and night, if that is your thing. Turkish bath ... wow . must do !! Link to other facilities. http://www.platanhotels.com/club/eng/index.html
FOOD - like any other all inclusive, buffet style every meal. good choice of salad stuff, try everything, even if you don't recognise it, we did and got some lovely suprises... out doors but under cover eating, therefore flys and wasps around ( not like english wasps, they don't sting or buzz. they look like wasps but really are just after the food, not you. Didn't have one land on me the whole time). We just avoided the things that the flys liked... and always go for the new fresh side of the bowl and dig deep!! Lady by the pool bar cooking turkish traditional snack all day between 10 - 4, must try it ! looks like a pancake but is very thin pita bread with a stuffing. Resturants down the lane too to stave off boredom, very cheap and worth a visit too.
CHECK OUT - mmm - paid our bill the day before, no prob. no room is provided for luggage or showers. we were not informed of check out time which should have been noon, so we had our room all day. until reception started ringing us at 6pm, telling us we should have been out. We showered quickly and vacated, now 7.30pm. other people were booked into our room!!! our flight was not till 05.00am next morning !!
ALL INCLUSIVE - smallest selection of free drinks i have ever encountered, even comparing it to 3 *. unlimited vodka, gin, & whisky ( all non branded) local rakki( aniseed thing), coke , diet coke, tonic, soda, squash ( black cherry, orange, lemon, peach) and water. Ice is safe , and needed !
WATERSPORTS - pools and waterslides great fun and free. on the beach is a hut where you can get your peddloes and canoes, but you have to argue at first that they are free... they are after a small fight. No snorkels available, or scuba ( without a transfer to marmaris 90 mins by boat, and extra cost later)
We had a great holiday, location is in the middle of nowhere, three sides mountain, one side sea. No Mosque's.... The staff are very friendly and will do anything if you only ask.

Flights - First Choice.
Flight was delayed by 45 minutes but apart from that the flight was good.
Transfer - We expected the transfer to take around 2 hours(as described on their website)but in total it took 4&1/2 hrs from Dalaman airport! We left the airport at 12:45am and after 2hrs drive arrived in Marmaris. After dropping a couple of people off at various hotels our coach driver stopped and called out the name of our hotel. Along with four other couples on the coach we got off and our bags were unloaded. The coach driver then muttered something to us in broken English about a minibus coming to take us to our hotel. He then drove off leaving us all standing with our cases in the middle of a busy street in Marmaris at 2:30am wondering what was going on. After about 10 minutes a minibus arrived, we loaded up and went on our way. We'd been driving for about 30 minutes before the driver realised that he'd gone the wrong way ! This added another 1hr onto our journey. He didn't seem to really know where he was going and we were all getting quite concerned. We then realised that the minibus had not been hired by our tour company but was actually the man that our coach driver had been talking to earlier when he stopped at a taxi rank! The roads to the Green Platan were very narrow, rocky roads, winding round a mountain. We finally arrived at Club Green Platan at 5:20am.
Check in: This was fine. Only took about 10 minutes, no problems. However we were not given any info about the hotel on check in, such as meal times, check out times etc.
Rooms:
As the hotel had been classed as 5* we were very disapointed with the rooms. We stayed in one of the club rooms. The room was quite shabby looking and very poorly decorated. There were a number of faults such as a lighting fixture hanging loose, T.V did not work, some of the wallpaper was peeling away, large crack running down the whole length of one wall with bare plaster showing and crumbling onto the floor, an open fusebox with bare wires, badly wobbling bed, toilet also wobbled and more water came out of the top of the shower pipe than the shower head! Our balcony view was of a sheer rock face, so no real view and never any sun at all. You have to pay for the safe and the fridge.
Food:
Went down to breakfast on the first morning and was even more disapointed. As the restaurant is outdoors near the beach (although under some cover) there were lots of wasps and flies. None of the food was covered and had wasps literally crawling all over the food! Not one or two wasps but swarms of them. It was absolutely disgusting! Lunch wasn't AS bad but there were still a lot wasps.
This hotel is in a very remote location. We were under the impression that there was a daily boat from the hotel to Marmaris. It actually leaves twice a week, Tuesday & Thursday. We were only told this at 11am on Tuesday, so had already missed Tuesdays boat. We were also told that an evening minibus service was provided to go into Marmaris at night. This was slightly true as a minibus could be booked but at a cost of 6 euros each, there had to be enough people to book and the journey was 1&1/2 hrs each way!
The private beach was nice though. Gritty sand like in Marmaris but plenty of beds, umbrellas etc.
When we went to reception to complain about the room/food we were met by a number of other English guests also complaining and demanding to be moved. One couple who we had arrived with had already moved rooms three times and were still not happy. The hotel manager told us that 'most English guests do not like this hotel at first but they stay and get used to it'! You should never have to 'get used'to your accomodation, especially when you have booked a 5* hotel.
We then decided that we did not want to stay at this hotel any longer and after arguing with our rep (over the phone) we were transferred (along with the other guests who had arrived with us on the minibus) to another hotel in Marmaris.
As we left on the first day I can't comment on the dinner, entertainment, check out etc.
The hotel has since been downgraded from a 5* to 4* but I would give it more of a 3*.

Holiday started off as a nightmare soon as we landed at Dalaman airport at 2:45am. Had to sit on a bus for over 1 hour to wait for a different flight to arrive to let 2 people on the bus. {Saving money I think}. We finally set off with a bus full of unhappy holiday makers and to make it even worse the bus driver kept falling asleep, transfer took about 5 hours up the hill sides, very dusty tracks and narrow.
Check in was fine didn
