After reading reports about a recent renovation we found the view of the Oylum Hotel to our liking with it's newly vamped rooms and small Reception area all looking the part. Despite asking for a low floor however we were allocated the last two rooms available that morning on the fourth(top)floor so be prepared for the 92 steps to the top as there are no lifts.
All rooms have free Air-Conditioning(a blessing in the July/August heat),ours also had double bed and a smaller single bed with a wardrobe and a nice fully tiled bathroom, shower and a small balcony. We also had a safe which you could hire a TV and dressing table.
A good size Pool is situated next to the restaurant with separate small kiddies area sat toward the far end. Sunbeds were at a premium though so be prepared for the usual towel reservation thing which sadly some of the clients felt the need to do in the early hours. There was also a nice shaded area to escape the 100* heat we encountered most days.
The guests were split between mainly British and Russians with a sprinkling of both Turkish and Italian family's. Despite a few people getting legless at night around the pool bar we encountered no real problems what soever with anyone.
We found the food just about OK but it did lack variety of any kind with the same boring menu every day leading to quite a few guests complaining before eventually retreating to the many local restaurants at night.
The menu itself was very Turkish. Chicken and fish(always BBQ Mackerel)with spicy burgers for the kids plus a selection of salads and a few sweet Turkish dishes to finish. Breakfast was always scrambled eggs with toast and cereals with olives and fruit. If you expect a fry up or typical British food be prepared.
We found all the staff from the bar to the cleaners well mannered and cheerful and tipped all of them accordingly before we left.
We would return to this Hotel but only on a self catering holiday.

whilst this hotel was all inclusive, there were no snacks or ice creams and the drinks were limited to "Magnum Cola" and other own make fizzy drinks, one type of lager, local wine, local raki and vodka. No other spirits were included, nor were fruit juices.
The food consisted of one hot main meal option each meal time, usually either chicken or pork and usually a casserole or stew. There weas a salad option, which was much the same each day. The hotel seemed to think that everyone wanted to live off chips morning, noon and night, as they were served at all meal times (except breakfast). Wednesday and Saturday nights were nice, chicken kebab and BBQ night, other than that, we avoided the meal times at the hotel. The hot meals were rarely piping hot, it was warm, particularly the rice, which was worrying.
Whilst the rooms were clean, the pool area was not cleaned, the area surrounding the beds was sticky from spilt drinks - the tables were also sticky.
The waiting staff and bar staff were really friendly, however, the manager imposed a rule that you had to finish your drink and bring your empty glass to the bar before you could have another one (which made the 11pm cut off difficult). The drinks were expensive after hours and it was cheaper to drink elsewhere. The manager never spoke to english guests and I felt that I had done something to offend him with his behaviour towards the English as a whole.
There was no entertainment and turkish music was often played which no-one else except staff seemed to know.
I would not visit this hotel again, I think it was a bit run down and needs updating and a re-think with their all inclusive policy. I also felt that the management did not like English holidaymakers and I felt that they were just after more money, which defeated the purpose of all inclusive.

Food was lovely, with a mix of turkish and english food, it makes me laugh when people say it not enough English food in hotels, ur visiting turkey so expect turkish food...
The staff was very helpfull and know basic english.
The location of the hotel is in a fantastic place in the center of icmeler, just across the road from Mirage hotel and a little further down from champagne and wonderboys....
ME and my husband are defferently visiting this hotel next year and this time we plan to stay there for 1 month,,, so guys dont worry you will be pleasently surprised its a lovely and friendly hotel.
Enjoy

Before we went I was a little concerned with the previous reviews, however after settling in my feelings are that you get what you pay for and all we wanted was to get away from this awful weather, yes the food was not brilliant but we have had worse at five star accomodation in Turkey.
The staff made our holiday for us they were excellent, very friendly and very helpful, one of them even went to the length of keeping an eye on our 17 year old daughter and her friend when they went over to Marmaris for a night out, he did this discreetly and we can say that was a really nice gesture and it was not even at our request, it was just the staff's concern that Marmaris is a quite a bit wilder than Icmeler.
At the end of the day as stated above you get what you pay for and people who were moaning about the hotel in my opinion were particulary naive to what Turkey has to offer.
Previously someone complained about the manager, he was just shy and once you got to know Turan he was really alright, he thanked us for staying said goodbye to us as we left. Also he gave us many free drinks after time, as I said he was just a quite type who did not come across as really friendly at first - we are all different after all!
The only down side to the Hotel was the inclusion of Russian guests, who were not very friendly at all in fact they made the Germans look like long lost friends, and they drank morning noon and night, admittedly they were not offensive just rather starnge!
As to revisiting this Hotel - we don't make a habit of staying at the same place twice as diversity makes a holiday, however we would recommend The Oylum Park for those looking for a economy break with some nice people, just give it a try!
PS My dughter and her friend will be going back there in October, and we are confident they will be looked after.

The all inclusive was very limited with a strict monitoring by the Hotel manager to ensure that when the clock struck 11pm there was absolutely no chance of getting any drinks even if you'd been at the bar before 11pm waiting to be served.
The drinks quality was very poor. The local beer Efes is very good but the beer served in this hotel was vile and could not be found anywhere else in the resort.
The bar staff under obvious pressure from the manager would attempt to serve just soft drinks even when you had asked for alcohol in the drinks, so you would have toreturn and ask for the drinks again.
The Hotel poolside was filthy I never once saw it being hosed down or cleaned in the weeks that I was there. This was evidenced by abandoned food and even an old pair of socks remaining in the same place under a lilo for the whole two weeks.
The lilo matresses had a cotton covering and were filthy and covered in sweat stains and suntan oil from various holiday makers.
The room shower was a disgrace. The tile joints were thick with black mould, the drain did not drain so that if you showered the shower tray filled up and overflowed onto the floor.
Water from the shower head did not spray it just fell from the broken head that was brown with mould. The room was a family room. There was a large damp patch on the head board of the main bed that was seeping through from the shower room wall.
There was only one cupboard for the family room that did not open properly because of the curtain pelmet, so we had to live from the suitcase. The beds were okay if a little lumpy. The air con worked well. The door on the cupboard was broken. The balcony door lock was broken and was not fixed despite various requests to do so.
The towels were changed daily but not the beds. The food was well below basic. The quality of salad food was very poor. This was noticed because of the trips we had went on, where the salad food was similar in type but excellent in quality.
The range of food is non existant it was the same each and every night. The only variation was that if there was sausage meat on the menu for lunch it was recycled as something else for dinner.
The sweet was the same at every meal with no exageration, it was sponge cake soaked in very thin syrup each and every night. Very poor quality food that eventually became nauseating because of its repitition but mostly because of it's poor quality, and I love salad food. No snacks available. The staff except the manager were very friendly.
We did not recieve a welcome pack or any information from the manager/staff regarding mealtimes facilities etc. The manager took to spending his evenings drinking with a specific nationality group of residents.
This caused some concern as when you required him for business he was most often innebriated, particularly early evenings. On one occassion my son was sitting in the main hotel TV lounge and the manger came and without a word took the TV remote from him and handed it to his young daughter who was visiting him.
The hotel is located well back from the beach in a reasonablt seclude spot that helps when things get a bit noisy at night. There is absolutely no entertainment for adults or children, we eventualy made our own amongst the guests. Two major incidents caused us great concern.
All in the holiday was an extremely unpleasant experience. We did try to rescue it by the attitude of 'Well we're here now so let's just make the best of it'. But that was very difficult to maintain under the circumstances. Most residents we spoke to in the hotel had a similar experience.
One couple refused to check in after they were rudely treated by a male hotel receptionist, in the end they were moved to another hotel at a cost of a surplus

limited drinks bar staff were good and friendly especially with the kids or the young russian girls that were there. the hotel was clean but the poolside was filthy, i did not see it being cleaned once whilst we were there the pool closed at 6 but not to be cleaned down. the beds were dirty and there were a lot of drinks spilt, also the use of glass as opposed to plastics around the pool was worrying as they were constantly getting smashed. the pool itself was very clean and chemicals put in everynight.
the location of hotel was good and set back from the noise although we could still hear the noisy turkish music that was played almost constantly from the bar unless it was the boom boom that was always being played.
the staff overall were friendly although it did take till the last day for the manager to crack a smile at us but he did stay up to see us off !! there was no entertainment at all for anyone and the guests were not encouraged to stay in beyond the evening meal which was not hard as most nights we had to eat out as the thought of yet more unknown meat and frozen chips were nausiating. even the salad had a degree of guess work attached to it. we received no welcome pack and the rep jane was no where to be seen most of the time and definately not if there was a complaint to be had
although the rooms were basic they were clean and we got the occasional vase of flowers left by the maid
as a family we would probably not return to this hotel because of a number of reasons and although we enjoyed the holiday that was down to the people we met rather than anything else

We did not feel comfortable enough to unpack or wash and change so returned to reception to complain but no-one was available. We decided to go for breakfast but when we returned there was still no-one there. We knew we would not be able to stay at this accommodation and went in search of alternative accommodation which we had to pay 800 pounds for. On our return we were refused our passports and told to wait for rep who arrived many hours later and was of no help at all but assured us we would be picked up from our new accommodation to return to the airport. She did not inform us that because we had moved hotels ourselves we would not be picked up and therefore would have to pay a further 60 pounds for a taxi to the airport.
I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone and would advise those travelling to Icemeler to beware of the one rep who oversees all hotels as her ignorant, rude manner was unbelievable and her so-called help and friendliness a front to be rid of us. Everything she told us was lies except for the fact that she agreed about the unbelievable state of the hotel whose food was a disgrace and whose cleanliness was a joke. She actually told us that they were trying to get rid of the hotel from their books because of its low standards. So beware, do not visit the Oylum Park Hotel.

We arrived at about 1-30 am and was met by the night porter. He immediately carried both our bags up 4 flights of stairs [no lift] and still remained jovial. During the first few days of settling in, we had the opportunity to relax and see how the hotel ran. Being made up of mainly east Europeans it was certainly an eye opener.
At meal times they descended on everything, especially the sweet buffet. But after a few days we got used to it.
The staff are excellent, and will do anything to help, from the receptionist to the barstaff.
Food is typically Turkish/ east European being mainly chicken and salad, but there is plenty of it. If you do get a little bored there are many decent places to go for a change within 2 minutes walk from the hotel. Go and see Kamil, he has the bar and restaurant directly across the street. You will be guaranteed a laugh, he's from Bradford you know. If you can find Captain Silver apartments [at the end of the road past the mersoy hotel], say hello to Memmet, good food and very good company.
All local drinks, beer vodka gin raki and wines are available at the hotel bar from 10am until 11pm, and you can drink as much as you like.
In conclusion I would say that the oylum hotel is very good value for money.
The food is adequate staff great, rooms cleaned and tidied daily, no hassle, no bustle. Don

The AI basis was very good, better than we expected.
We were met at reception by a very friendly English speaking, young man. Our room was shown to us, and we were surprised how nice it was. The hotel has been refurbished so everything is new. The fridge and air con were the silent type, so no noise during the night. There was a double and a single bed which were very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was a little on the small side, but all was new and worked well. The old style windows had been replaced with new steel sliding patio doors. So that gave the hotel a different look to the one it had before.
Our room was cleaned every day, and fresh towells etc.
The food was typically Turkish most of the time. Very tasty, with lots of salads too. There was always fresh coffee, tea and soft drinks available in the restaurant. Meal times were a very relaxed affair, you could eat either inside or out.
There were two bars, one inside the other poolside. The pool area was very good, with large cushions to either sit on or put on the loungers. Very comfortable.
We were surprised that most of the guests were British, so that made for a friendly atmosphere. You soon got to know everyone staying there. Being April, the hotel was not full, and I would imagine that when it was full there would not be enough space around the pool. But it was only a few yards to the beach, and the resort centre.
We found the staff to be really friendly and hard working. They would do anything for you.
There was no entertainment, but that may change in season.
We loved this hotel, and if we return to Icmeler, we will stay there again.
