We stayed at the Chancellor which is just off Union Square, and right on the cable car route from Market to Powell.
The hotel is styled as a boutique type premises, and I must admit it was one of the best places we have stayed in for quite some time. It isn't one of those chain places where you could be anywhere in the world as they all look the same, it has loads of character. We only has breakfast at the hotel which was of a excellent standard, so much so when we returned to SF later on in the holiday we went back to the Chancellor for breakfast instead of the other hotel.
The staff are superb, nothing is too much trouble, and they are a credit to the hotel manager, Wes Tyler.
If you work for the Government, Central/Local, Police, or Forces, remember to ask for the Government rate which knocks of approximately $30 a night, all in all a great hotel and we will definately stay there again.
