What can I say, what a fantastic hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an excellent value for money trip.
It is a little out of the way on one end of the strip but its a brilliant walk into the heart of the hustle and bustle and has great views of the mountains.
We upgraded to a suite for about

Hi!
We stayed here for 7 nights and had a blast!
The rooms were spotless, the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful.
The hotel is next to the Mandalay Hotel at the far end of the strip which didn't cause a problem because of the frequent bus service and taxis at the hotel lobby. We did talk to an American couple while we were there who had moved from another hotel which was more central and the reason they moved was because of traffic noise all through the day and night - we didn't hear a thing at the Luxor.

This was our 8th trip to Vegas and the Luxor and once again we were not disappointed.
The entrance and reception area looked as impressive as ever. Throughout the public areas in the hotel you get the feeling of space more so than in some others, this is perhaps due in some part to the theme of each hotel.
The rooms at the Luxor are what you expect in Vegas, not outstanding but comfortable. After all they don't want you in there too long!!! Very clean, adequate supply of towels renewed daily along with bed linen.
Not a lot of wardrobe space but most people probably don't do a 14 night stay like us!!! Have stayed in pyramid and towers and have no strong preference for one above the other.
Ate breakfast at the buffet most days but preferred to have other meals at different hotels/restaurants. However have used the Luxor buffet in previous years for evening meals and would not rate it as one of the best. The food court is good for snacks.
Being at the far south end of the strip the walk to other hotels can be a bit of a drag in the heat but then again even a walk between the more centrally placed hotels can be a drag and there are plenty of other hotels (Mandalay, MGM, NYNY, Monte Carlo) etc within a comfortable walking distance.
One of the reasons we return to the Luxor is the pool area. Spend a lot of time in the sun and the pools and surrounding area are large enough that even on busy days such as public holidays they can just about cope. Lots of sun beds and of course towels are provided. Not a lot of shaded areas if you want to avoid the direct sun though.
Bellagio or Mandalay would be my ideal choice of somewhere to stay but due to their higher rates I would prefer to have a longer holiday at the Luxor than a shorter one at one of these.

Myself and my husband stayed at the Luxor as part of our honeymoon taking in San Francisco/Vegas/Grand Canyon.
Staff:
The check-in clerk was the rudest I've ever met and only spoke 3 sentences 'I need a credit card', 'here's your key', 'hers your map'. Not so much as Hello, goodbye, thank you....nothing. We had breakfast in the hotel once and were served by the single rudest and most obnoxious woman ever. When I wanted to ask for some napkins I got as far as 'Excuse me' before she put her hand up and said 'wait'. Needless to say she got no tip and we never went back again. We went to the Ventian to see Lord of the Dance and asked at reception for directions and they couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful. A vast improvement on the Luxor.
Rooms:
We stayed in the pyramid rooms first and as soon as we got to our room found the fan in the bathroom wouldn't switch off. Maintenance appeared sometime after we left (an hr later) and fixed it. The rest of the room could have done with a lick of paint and a bit more light but it was ok I guess. After returning from the Grand Canyon we checked back into the Luxor (pre-arranged) and asked for a tower room. These rooms are much nicer, recently renovated and a vast improvement on the pyramid rooms.
Location:
The Luxor in my opinion is too far down the end of the strip. The Excalibur and Mandalay are beside it but everything else is a bit of a trek up the strip.
Hotel Overall:
There are virtually no signs and every corner looks the same so it takes forever to find your way around the hotel. The casino carpet was grubby and could have done with a good shampoo and general overhaul. All in all I wouldn't return to the Luxor. I'd rather pay that little bit more and stay in the Ventian.

Most American hotels are room only so no surprise or problem. There are many dining alternatives both in the Luxor and in the surrounding hotels - Take you pick!.
This hotel is towards to 'top' of the strip but was an easy walk (get used to it!) to the other hotels - remember that is all there is in Vegas itself.
Only marked entertainment with a 3 because we did not want to go to the show there. Again, that is not relevant in Vegas. You choose your shows from the other hotels and book to go there.
There is a choice (at the same rate) of rooms in the Pyramid and the Towers. We choose the Towers because they have baths versus showers only in the Pyramid. Room was big and comfy.
No tea-making etc - They do not want you sitting in the room. Good hotel.

Hotel got party mixed up and placed my husband with my friend.
Room service was diabolical. They sent it to the wrong rooms and then charged our credit card when no one was there.
Staff rude and very money orientated.
Rooms very clean and cannot be faulted.

only stayed here for 3 nights but realy enjoyed it the inclinators? or lifts were a little strange but quite good, staff polite, just a little confusing when you first book in threading your way thru the gambling areas, some work was being done on the interior but we did not hear too much noise certainly not in our rooms, good location but did not stop around the hotel much,so as for the entertainment i don't know, anyway plenty going on down the strip, only had breakfast there but it was very good and convenient.

This is a great hotel, situated at the top end of the strip, get your walking boots on....
The atmosphere in the Luxor isn't the best (but it isn't the worst either), still the theme / decor and size of the reception / casino is impressive.
The buffet breakfast was fantastic, loads of choice and a good rate, especially if you get the 2 for 1 vouchers from the nice chap on the security box counter. (Dave I think his name is!!!)
The reason I wouldn't stay at the Luxor again is mainly out of principle, my husband left his sunglasses (which I had bought for his birthday and had cost a fortune), behind the TV in the room, he only realised about 6 hours after we had vacated, when we went back to get the glasses we were not given any help at all, we filled in lost property forms, but no-one contacted us, on our arrival home we must have made around a dozen calls to the hotel, (housekeeping and security), plus wrote a letter which we didn't get a reply to - amazing that a hotel of this size and status can ignore such a small claim. I suppose this is personal really, but I still found many of the staff members to be quite rude and abrupt and didn't really make us feel as if we were on holiday.
We also stayed in the Monte Carlo and I would recommend this hotel above the Luxor.
