Stayed for one week to see in the New Year.
First night couldn't sleep for elevator noise above us! Complained next morning and got upgraded. Found both rooms to be quite dated but clean.
The location is terrible so spent a lot of time walking!
Staff were quite pleasant (except one very miserable croupier who was sporting a ripped and gravy stained shirt)
Had buffet breakfast once, only once, never again! Plus points for the food court though, Chinese, pizza hut, Burger king etc.
Didn't see much entertainment because we didn't want to hang around.
I would say this hotel is ok if you're a member of the purple rinse brigade. This is the second time I

My husband, Mother and I arrived at the Riviera. Check in was a nightmare - took us 1 hour 30 mins. They wanted us to use an electronic checking in system which did not work and we ended up having to wait to see a booking clerk. We were then told we would have to pay extra on arrival for electricity!! When I queried it I was more or less told - take it or leave it - a very unhappy start to the holiday
Our rooms were in the Monte Carlo tower and though the rooms were spacious they were very outdated and smelled a bit musty. En Suites had also seen better days. However they were clean and were changed and cleaned regularly.
The buffet in the Riviera left a lot to be desired. Food was reasonable but the cleanliness was not. There were too little staff for the size of the place and I did feel sorry for the poor women running around trying to clear tables. Often there were trolleys stacked with dishes and tables unable to be used because they had not been cleared. We only had breakfast there twice and on both occasions it was pandemonium.
Kristopherson's (the steak house in the Riviera) was very good and not too pricey.
We found that there was nowhere to sit in the Riviera, they did not have a lounge or sitting area where you could relax and catch your breath - all they had were 2 sit up Sports Bars. The Stardust across the road has two lovely spacious lounge areas to sit and relax.
I would never again stay in the Riviera - it is one of the older hotels and it shows. It needs massive renovations and more courteous staff.
I will however come back to Vegas as it is a wonderful place - a proper Disneyland for adults.
