Wonderful ship, not too many complaints but did feel the crew were not quite as attentive as on other ships. The entertainment was not totally to our taste, but everyone is different.

We sailed on a transatlantic crossing for our 20th Wedding Anniversary and it was fantastic! The Queen Mary is a beautiful ship and it was definitely the best way to arrive in NYC; the memory of the pinky sunrise over Manhattan as we sailed up the Hudson will stay with me for ever.
Positives:- lovely cabin on deck 8 with a glass balcony. We didn't use it much (really only first two days and last one) as it was foggy most days but I loved watching the sea laying on the bed.
RADA classes were excellent as were the plays and poetry readings they performed.
The food in the Brittannia and our table mates
the music in G32 - great for middle aged people who like to boogie!

My wife and myself sailed on the QM2 on the 12th April for 8days includind stops in France-Portugal & Spain sailing out of Southampton and returning there.
We chose this Vessel as an experience of an Ocean Liner as opposed to a normal Cruise Ship and to make comparrisons. The Ports of Call were Poor! except that we were able to visit The Shrine At Fatima and The Basilica at Santiago de Compostela, but apart from that the rest was very poor indeed.
We are experienced Cruisers over the last 20 years, mainly with Celebrity Cruises, before and after being taken over by Royal Carribean and we can say that the QM2 is definitely Not Value for money. We paid for a Balcony Cabin on Deck 11 only to find that there is an overhang on Deck 12 which completely shades the whole balcony and is very restricting of views and sunshine.
We have never had to send back food on any Cruise in 20 years on most Cruise Lines yet on this vessel this happened on 2 occasions without apology or concern on the part of the staff in the Britannia Restaurant.
The general areas on deck were untidy and very poorly equipped, unless you were a queens grill passenger and then it became acceptable. Compared to other Cruise Ships in every department this fell short and considering it cost approx 30% more it very definitely was not value for money, so welcome back Celebrity!!.

This was our 17th cruise in the last six years and was booked for my wifes birthday through ideal cruising. The company we booked with were very helpful and helped us change flights and stay in New York the day before sailing, we have used Ideal cruising before and they were several hundred pounds cheaper than other quotes we had. All travel to our Hotel ,ship and return was arranged for us and went well, Fast Track Cruises had told us we would have to make our own arrangements. Having done the trip I strongly suggest you get all transports arranged for you as it will cost a fortune to do it yourself. Transport to the Queen Mary 2 took us by ground zero which is shocking to see still. Embarcation went well thanks to the Cunard on line passenger details we provided weeks before.
Unlike many ships once on board they say hello, but it is up to you to find your way to your cabin, this could cause some problems for some people.
Our luggage was at our cabin which was on deck 6 with a sheltered balcony. The cabin was the largest we have ever had and looked brand new, UK power outlets were provided with dressing gowns and cute cunard slippers. We were delighted with our cabin a bottle of champaigne and birtday cards from cunard had been put on a table ,there was more storage space than we needed and the cases fitted under the bed. The cabin was kept spotless and cleaned twice a day, we never saw our room stewart or as my wife calls them room pixie, as they seem to come and go by magic.
There were three formal nights during the cruise, and we dined in the Britania dining room each night.
The food on the QM2 is outstanding the best we have had, both the day time buffet and restaurants serve only the very best and I do not think any one sailing on this ship would be disapointed.
One down side to the cruise was the entertainment, although a matter of taste we found it close to depressing the production shows were colourful but abba music with a samba beat did not work.
The emtertainment was very staid and aimed at passengers aged 100 yrs or over.
A fantasic planetarium was amazing but you must get tickets early due to limited seating.
The shops on board like Hermes were expensive however the Cunard shop was reasonable. The in cabin Tv keeps you well informed with no loudspeaker anouncements in you Cabin. There were few children on this cruise I was told that after one year old Cunard charge as an adult.
The Island we visited were typical, excursions were expensive as always but other than shopping there is little to do for go it alone passengers like us.
At St Kitts we were parked next to the P and O Oceana as we began to move from the dock some two thousand Oceana passengers lined all decks waving Union flags and sang rule Britania they kept singing and flag waving untill the QM2 was a long distance from the dock.This was the most remarkable event I have ever seen I was told it was a tribute to the QM2 and had been rehersed and looked forward to by the Oceana passengers. There were some 1600 Uk and 650 Usa passengers on the QM2 and the amazing show put on by Oceana showed the Americans that Brits can still be patriotic.
This is the longest review I have written and it goes far short in describing what was the fantastic cruise we have ever had in one word Luxury . If you are going on this ship be prepared to be happily stunned.

Watch Out. I was charged £903 when I tried to cancel 18 hours after phone booking!

I saw an Xmas Caribbean cruise on Cunard’s QM2, using Virgin for U.S.A. hotels & flights. This was advertised by Fasttrack Holidays in The Daily Mail on 18 August 07. At the time of booking, I specifically asked at the time of booking what my liability was, however I was misled into believing that I would only lose my deposit if I cancelled near to the date of sailing. I booked by phone and paid £750 deposit. However, had I been correctly advised that I would immediately loose all my deposit, plus a further £153, I would not have made the booking.

Later that day I went online to see further details and discovered hidden costs not given at the time of booking, plus some scathing reviews, therefore the next morning (18 hours after booking) I tried to cancel my booking (by fax & e-mail, followed up by letter).

Fasttrack confirmation details state that Virgin Holidays are the Principal for this contract and Virgin terms state “your monies will be returned in full”. Trading Standards agree.

Despite the above Fasttrack refused to cancel my booking and, unless I paid a further £153 to make up their calculated total cost of cancellation (£903), they WOULD NOT CANCEL my booking. They also tried to blackmail me by stating that if I did not pay the additional £153 my costs would increase as the cruise date approached, potentially costing the whole value of the holiday at £ 9,707.

Only after I have issued a 14-day letter threatening action through the County Court, have they waived the Fasttrack and Virgin cancellation fees of £153 & £360 respectively. However they are now attempting to use Cunard’s UK terms (the US terms differ & say "full refund"!) to insist I pay their cancellation charge of £357. Apart from an acknowledgement of my letter, I have received no response from Virgin and nothing at all from Cunard.

I am now forced to take Fasttrack, Virgin & Cunard to the County Court so that a judge can identify whose, if any, of terms apply to my booking, or indeed any such telephone bookings, of which there must be thousands.

I consider this to be a carefully constructed method of selling, designed specifically to muddy waters by relying upon many different terms& conditions to manipulate the law & to confuse and obstruct members of the public, unless they are prepared to take court action.

Luckily, I am an experienced traveller and can look after myself in Court –what about the little people who can’t take this on?

Please don't listen to the whingers on this site. The cruises I have enjoyed on the QM2 have been fantastic.
We first travelled across the Atlantic from N.Y in September of 06, and booked a Caribbean cruise immediatly on my return to the U.K.

December 2007 - Caribbean Adventure 3. Out of this world.

Two words of warning though - Be prepared for long queues at Port Lauderdale cruise terminal, I suggest that you contact Cunard in Southampton and let them know if you have problems standing for long periods. It's extremely busy and can take a couple of hours to get everyone processed.

Don't go wandering around on your own in Jamaica - It just ain't safe. If you decide to go to Dunns River Falls, stay away from the market (Its on the 'Exit', route), Stay right and head straight back to the car park. (Nasty men with sharp wood carving knives and an appetite for the American Dollar reside here).

On the positive side though the British Virgin Islands are fantastic, St Kitts is wonderful, it's people are warm, honest and friendly, and I can highly recommend an aloe vera massage from 'fingers' at Friggit Bay - sheer bliss.

Don't worry about booking excursions through Cunard, the same trips can be booked on shore at the terminals, and are a lot cheaper.

Taxi's and car hire in the Caribbean are very cheap.
I hired an automatic Mini Moke in Barbados and drove over the mountains to Berkley Park on the East of the Islands, hired horses at Iliard farm in Hole Town and had a wonderful time, we did'nt want to leave. Less than £60 the lot, and petrol included.

Hope you all have a wonderful time - Just as Deb and I did. Hope to see you on board in the near future.

wow, what a ship. i am scared to go cruising again, as we wouldnt want to take our four children on this cruise, its far too sophisticated for them, yet we have been spoilt by the best and wouldnt want to travel on another "lesser" ship.

the ship is elegant, rooms beautiful, staff professional. the entertainment was a little disappointing, same type of music every day and night in the ball room. the shows in the theatre were good, i just think there could have been even more entertainment. anyone cruising for more than 10 days may get bored of the whole thing.

worthwhile experience though.

This ship is a fantastic feat of engineering. The decor is first class workmanship. The cabin (deck 8 balcony) was excellent, loads of room and very comfortable. Room service can't be faulted, and don't forget its free!!
Thats all the good stuff over with! The food in the Brittania room was good. Service was good but stuffy and very slow, also very noisy in there. Have had better. Food in the Kings Court was very indifferent, like a food court in a shopping mall, noisy, queues, repetative, confusing and at times grubby. The carvery had the same menu for 10 days???. We decided to miss our 6pm seating in the Brittania so that we could watch the ship sail from port ( we missed it every evening due to the early meal sitting). So we went to the Kings court for dinner, only to be told that booking a few days in advance was needed. But we could eat in the Carvery...same menu again!! This was rubbish for the money we had paid.
Evenings, after dinner, now for a nice stroll around the decks and an al fresco cocktail. Whoops, the deck bar shuts at 7pm?? Whoops, the crew are washing down the decks with hoses. Whoops, there is water running onto our heads from higher decks being washed down.
This was the Caribbean, eveningtime, 80F, the most expensive liner ever built. No bar, no deck stroll. Is this real? O well there is always the entertainment! Whats on tonight? Ah, A concert pianist in the show lounge! A pianist in the pub! A pianist in the bar! A jazz trio (with pianist)in another bar. What about the next night? An American comedian who told american jokes that the americans did'nt even get, and yes. lots of pianists!
This was a very boring cruise regards entertainment.
The islands that we visited were very nice. Well thats what we were told by passengers that had been to them on holiday. We did'nt see that for ourselves because the shore excusions were rubbish.
Needless to say not our best cruise.
Oh, and Cunards customer complaints dept. are completely single minded in thinking their company is perfect and are not at all interested in feedback or complaints. Good Luck.

We sailed from Southampton to Norway on our first cruise and would recommend this ship to anyone. We had an inside cabin which was fabulous, very clean, had towels changed twice daily, all toiletries are provided from the Canyon Ranch Spa. Food was excellent and waiting staff are really friendly. Lots to do on board although some of the evening entertainment was not for us as they cater for every age group (harpist not really our scene!)There are several different bars onboard, would recommend the martinis in the Commodore Club!
