We sailed from Southampton in August 2006 for a Mediterranian cruise. It was fabulous. We have been on a few cruises but this was definitely the best. We arrived at Southampton at noon and were on the ship in less than an hour. On our tickets it said arrive at 1.30 but we went early and would recommend this to anyone. The cabin we had was an outside with balcony and was truly superb. My children 18,13 had an inside cabin and it too was adequate.
We had room service two or three times a day and the staff were very efficient. The entertainment was ok, the food was 5 star and we enjoyed all the different restaurants that you could attend. Every one was friendly and we had a holiday of a lifetime and would definitely recommend it to anyone.

This was truly 5 star cruising, in every sense. One of the things that stands out is the high cleanliness level, yet you do not see any cleaning being done. Presumably cleaning in the immaculate public areas takes place during the night to avoid inconvenience.

The staterooms are absolutely superb. We booked standard inside cabins, which were more than adequately equipped, as the whole of the ship's facilities are available to you regardless of cabin grade.

We ate in the Britannia restaurant and the food and service was superb. Staff in the restaurants, and throughout the ship are obviously well trained by Cunard. One of the nicest things on this ship is the "white glove service" afternoon tea, served in the Queens Room.

Hi, everybody, I must tell everyone about the fantastic holiday experience we have just had,way back in April, i saw this advert in a daily news paper about a transatlantic crossing from Southampton to New York then onto Las Vegas for a further 5 days.
Now me and my friend been both senior citizens was a bit reluctant for a start as we both had never been on a cruise before. But we went for it, during the time up to going we managed to get 4 uprades so we finished up in a "Junior Suite" The cleanliness of the ship "The Queen Mary" was immaculate throughout, the food was out of this world, the staff, was 5 star staff at every level, the entertainment was available over 12 hours a day excluding a casino which stopped opened till the last punter went to bed. This was a Holiday that once upon a time you could only dream of or if you was lucky enough to win the lottery, well, no more, its now within the price range for all holiday makers,no matter what age, dont just think and dream about it, go for it like we did, worth every penny and WILL be definatly be goin again.
We went on a further 5 day extention when we docked at New York onto Las Vegas, but I shall submit another report about that part of the holiday in the appropiate review

The QM2 was very clean + we stayed in the lowest grade cabin which was very spacious.

The staff were very helpul + friendly.

The food was excellent + even a healthy option is included on the lunch/dinner menu (from Canyon Ranch health club-usa). So you can be as naughty or healthy as you want food wise.

The gym was well equipped + never overcrowded.

The only slight negative point is that one of the excursions was sold out when we tried to book it on board (book in advance form Uk).

Apart from that the whole trip was a dream and in my view, not overpriced at all. Cocktails were only $4.50, we had a fantastic time.

I am so pleased I booked this holiday of a lifetime (med cruise).

Certainly-go for it!!!

Me and my mum were one of the lucky people to travel on the Maiden Voyage of the QM2 what an experience it was, this ship is incompairable with any other cruise ship, the food, service and entertainment are in a diffrent league. Its a huge ship and it takes a large amount of people but there was so much space it wasnt as if there truly were 3000 other holiday makers there its unremarkable. If your thinking about a cruise young or old this it the boat for you, all i can say is wow what an experience.
