the wait is half the enjoyment though, months of anticipation and planning, i wouldn't have it any other way, i always book early so that i've got something to look forward to months down the line, it helps me get through the winter months without too much depression.

when i posted this comment i had been reading the last entry on the previous page, and this comment would've made sense but i hadn't realised there was another page of comments after that so now it doesn't. i thought i could delete it, but i can't, only edit it, hence i've added this bit to explain.

we went at the beginning of july and only had 1 tv, in the kids part of the room, that's part of why i've complained to first choice as the brochure implies that you get 2, it also implies that you get a lounge area and a separate kids den, not so, the kids den is where the lounge area is in a standard room. we also didn't get a playstation, it was meant to be delivered the morning after we arrived but never came, no cards were left under the door or anything. we probably could've gone and got one from reception, but we'd also learnt from here that a deposit had to be paid, again not mentioned in the brochure, we don't have a credit card so couldn't just give an imprint of that, we'd have had to pay a £100 cash deposit. we decided to leave it and see if the kids 'needed' it, they didn't, so we never bothered. which is all a long way of saying the supplement for a kids den room was a waste of money!

Had an email from first choice & they said i should get in kids den what is stated in brochure without having to pay any more on top,am taking a copy of email with me :D

it seems they may have rectified the thing about only 1 tv, but, unless they have rebuilt the rooms since july, you won't get a lounge area and separate kids den which is what the brochure states

Thanks everyone :)

I forgot to ask if they still hold the Turkish night in the hotel and if they do what sort of stuff do they do ?
Is it like a BBQ and dancing ?

I'd like to know because I want to prebook some tours with Mustafa but don't want them to clash with the Turkish night.

Hi Alex
The Turkish night in the tropical was a Thursday, Turkish food in the restaurant with the lady cooking pancakes on the side. The Turkish entertainment was outside and they also have the camel rides (the bags for them to go to toilet had us in stitches) and a few stalls to buy things from. If your going to the palace it will be another night I think it was a Saturday but can't remember exactly

Thanks again for that Viv you've been a great help with the questions I have been asking. Just e-mailed Mustafa now for trips I can take the kids on!

I think the turkish night was a Sunday in the Palace aswell. Anyone letting their children on the camels please be careful. When we were there a young boy and girl were on one and fell off. Their dad managed to catch the little boy but not the girl. She landed flat on her face and was really quite badlly bashed. I'm not saying don't go on them (loads of people did and were ok) i'm just saying take care. :D

Hi jogilbert

We are going to the Palace in october, there are nine of us altogether (two families) 4 adults, 2 16 year old lads, 2 10 year old lads and a 4 year old princess.

We went last year in August and had a fab time - we cannot wait to go again in October

Hi,

The Turkish night is definately on a Saturday at the Palace, and on Thursdays at the Tropical.

We returned on Tues after being there for 2 weeks. Had a fab time. You can always get a sunbed, my husband would go down around 8.30 and get 4 in the shade just up from the snack bar and near the toilets. But any later you would be hard to get a mattress or a sunbed in the shade. Be aware that it is very, very hot but a gentle breeze comes up in the afternoon and it stays warm and sunny until at least 7pm.

Plenty of choice with regard to food, but can get hectic at times in the air conditioning part.........and noisy!! We found it much quieter in the upstairs restaurant, with a slightly different variety of food too. It was stated children had to be over 14 years old, but there were families eating there with children younger than that. My girls are 10 and 12. They went to eat on their own with a friend one night and was stopped by the management and were told they had to be 14yrs or older and other families were prevented from taking in their younger children. I do know that a family stood their ground and demanded to sit there and eat with their children (ages 11 and 7). After their discussion the notice about being over 14yrs was removed.

Can thoroughly recommend trips through Mustafa at Sarigerme Tours. We did jeep safari and turkish bath. Also the market at Ortaca (on Fridays) is much bigger and cheaper than Sarigerme (Sundays). You can catch the bus to Ortaca at the barrier at 10am, 2.50lira per person. The bus drops you at the bus station and the market is just there behind the toilets. Don't forget to haggle!! We bought 5 pairs shoes, t-shirts, gameboys advance games (you can check if they are in English) and Victoria Beckham denhim skirt.

We found the traders at Sarigerme market so funny. They certainly know how to sell and get your attention, but I won't spoil it for you.

If you are on a late flight back (we were picked up from the hotel at 2am), I can recommend paying the extra for your room. We had ours until midnight so only had to sit in reception for 2 hrs. We managed to rest in our room with no worries. Book through reception as soon as you get there. £44 until 6pm, another £10 until 8pm and a further £10 until midnight.

So all in all, a very good holiday. Common sense tells you not to get sunburnt, no-one had dicky tummies, the complex is big and clean and the pools are fantastic. 10/10

Just think of those poor people going today my heart goes out to them.
I cannot think of anything worse than being stuck in an airport with young children. Hope they get there ok if not today tomorrow.

Hi Lill

I was thinking exactly the same thing as you it will be very hard for the parents as it will the children, what a worry eh!

Let's hope it gets sorted quickly
