in cavelosim you could dress up to go to
1 fishermans warf
2 mikes place
3 goan village
but you could also turn up casual as we do and get the same service but you would'nt feel out of place spruced up
Can't say what is the norm in the northern resorts, but I'm sure some people like to dress up, and after seeing gemma33's photos I'm sure she do'es :oops
I suppose it's best to wear whatever you feel comfortable in.
Yep agree with ellibee and lassigirl, people definitely like to dress up in the evening down South. I quite like it myself, gives me a chance to try and look glamerous.
Also id Echo johnwoodys but id add to that the Riverview too.
Mind you I live by the motto - better to be over dressed than under dressed
We stay in the North and dress up most nights. I agree with Elliebee - better to be overdressed than underdressed. I think it's nice to be dressed up after coming in at the end of the day all hot and sticky covered in sun tan lotion/oil. We dress up in Casa Portugese and I agree about J&A's, also East Meets West, Fiesta, Pagoda Chinese Restaurant, Sweet Chilli and O'Pescador. We have found people in the restaurants really appreciate it when you dress up to go into their restaurants no matter how humble the place is. I do tend to leave my high heels at home though even though we go out in a taxi every night. I find the Goa jewelled sandals go very well with my dressy up clothes and are much better for jumping in and out of taxis. The best thing about Goa though is that you can wear what you want when you want - so long as your are comfortable.
We have only been south on day trips so far but what we have seen we liked so we a giving it a try in January.
I will take the advice offered on this forum and take a glam dress or two and some heels though I suppose I will still have to be careful of the dreaded red dust!
wow ellibee the leela now that is posh we have only been in for drinks its way out of our budget bill clinton stayed there when we were in cavelosim
I don't do posh (although I did posh up a few times on our honeymoon new tailored silk shirts n'all and not bought from anywhere the taxi driver took us ) but Mrs and Jnr Jock dress up a bit at night agree with the River View, Fisherman's Wharf the chinese in the Holiday Inn also used to be very nice havn't been for a while sure it's called The Whispering Palms (or similar).
For a real dress up posh night out is the Leela Palace.
Agree with this one Stayed here on our first visit to Goa, definately a dress up place. Very nice hotel as well
have the members not tried au reviere .would feel out of place in shorts and flip flops here ,lovely setting .gorgous decor, and excellent food .very up market
Buffett and entertainment all the Kingfisher you can drink for a one off fee
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it was almost if not next door to J&A's on the road from Baga bridge towards the Saturday night market.
Now defunct I'm pretty sure !
I think you mean La Terrace!
You're right Max, my mistake ! Incidentally, the place you recommended in Panjim by the river looked very nice. We arrived too late for lunch, they were about to shut so we took up your recommendation for Hotel Venite ( spelling ?) which had average food but superb setting sat on a little balcony ! Thanks for that memory, very special !.
Back on Topic!! I agree that A Reverie is a dressy up place but unfortunately since they moved location the food and service has gone down hill. I-95 is worthy of a bit of glamming up too ladies as is Le Jardin
GFF xx
