having been looking around for prices for november this year i couldnt believe how high prices are?
i know there are problems with less flights this coming season so i was quite chuffed when i haad a look at travelrepublics prices.
when we were there in march we looked in on the santana resort on the beach for those of you who know it, right behind the calamari beach shack.
anyhoo, loved the place, very very clean, room with airc0n and tv, minibar etc.
price with travelrepublic from manchester for 15 nights flying with thomas cook worked out at £650 each for 2 weeks.
considering some of the prices being quoted for places like village royal and palmarinha which are well out in the sticks, i thought this was good value!
just thought i'd let you know!
h.
Yes it seems that a lot of operators are using the escalating fuel costs as an excuse to take the ****.Good price you got hope you are not flying with the dreaded Monarch.
i tried local holiday shops in my town and got 3 weeks in jan £1198 which i thought was not to bad as all the things are included as well extra baggage meals etc travel republic wanted a extra 34 pounds for meals etc
and extra for baggage which would of come up a extra 100 and odd pounds more than i paid
im staying in calangute near the beach. not in apora as my first visit to goa landed me there.
just a little out of the way for me but was a nice place and great hol
it really is worth looking at flying via Mumbai. Just did a very quick check for November and Qatar airways have flights there for £375. Internal flights can be peanuts if you book early enough. Just costed a return from Jet at £35.
@ tazz, yeah, travel republic did charge extra for meals and extra allowance but it still came to £650 each.
i did price up for 3 weeks to the same hotel and it was coming up at around £850 each so not bad either!
I think i got a really good deal last year (March) we paid £570.00 for 2 weeks and this year (Nov) we paid £660.00 for 3 weeks
I would never take a cheap deal just for the sake of it eg. if I knew I was going to a rubbish hotel. Ive done all that stuff in years gone past when I was younger and its just not for me anymore.
We all love a bargain (me especially!) but I wouldnt take a holiday that cost a pittance just for the sake of it.
(my opinion only of course!!!)
Aslong as the hotel has a swimming pool, bed, shower and of course a bar im happy

I agree, I have taken a 4 week low cost 'bargain' and stayed at the dreaded Dona Alcina, was travelling with friends who were on a budget for 2 weeks. As soon as they left we moved up to Morjim for a while and a few days here and there. If I have booked a so called bargain I will always make sure I have a plan B in case things get on top of you.
Cheap accomodation doesn't do it for me in Goa unless there is no other choice. Cheap is one thing, quality and value is something completely different. If you are exhausted and have had a long day and do want to stay indoors of an evening (going out every night for 4 weeks is too much for me, sometimes room service on occassions is reqd'), I want it to be cleaned every day, have aircon, be mos' free. The DA was certainly not.... not that I was expecting it.
There is nothing worse than staying in poor accomodation if you do fall ill.
Maybe in my old age I'm getting too fussy.
Could'nt agree more Neil, we have booked the M/D for 3wks in Feb and its only £40 more than last year for the same dates.... ..Keith
