Hi billy bluenose,

Like Fiona, we will be travelling to Bali (Puri Santrian) later this year and will certainly post a report. It is 5 years since we were last in Bali (and then at Nusa Dua), so any advice from us is well out of date at present.

Who are you flying with and are you making a stopover? A few days in Singapore or KL is always good - It's a very long flight without a stopover.

Les 127, we arive at Puri S (after a stopover in Singapore) on Monday 1st October - will you still be there?

Cheers

Peter

hi pete,
first time in Bali for us so wasnt sure which way to do it. We are flying with qatar airlines stopping off in Doha in Qatar. This is only for 3 hours then its off again to Bali for 14 nights. Cant wait but its a long way away at the moment :(

Billy / Les - hi,

Singapore airlines are not too bad, although they don't match up to the standard on which they built their reputation - although their flights are nearly always full! Legroom is nothing to shout home about-only slightly more than BA. (we like to try for the two window seats at the rear of the plane on the LHR to SIN , and return, legs rows 61 to 64).

Many people say that Malaysian Airlines are better but we enjoy a few days in Singapore.

Les -I've not tried the route via Doha but I seem to recall that the return leg from DPS had a longer wait than the outbound leg, making for more than 24 hrs total. The SIA flights are a bit tight, but if you book straight thru from DPS there is about 50 mins only in Singapore on the return flight meaning about 17 hrs overall.

Qatar are offering remarkably good prices and get good reviews http://www.airlinequality.com/Forum/qatar.htm - Enjoy - it will be worth the wait.

:D

Watch those seats at the back on Singapore Airlines...I've been on them and by the time the food trolley got to me they had run of food. Impressed I was not.

Hi sunbear - good point. I have not experienced that problem, perhaps just lucky. Then again it has been a while since we tried SIA and then it was not as good as on previous occasions (particularly the food).

Their Business Class is too much of a premium  (we would have to cut out 1 holiday per year - God forbid!)

BTW Sunbear - we have a friend who has just come back from HK also spending 3 days in Taiwan on business (remember an earlier discussion). Didn't rate Taiwan at all (although didn't travel around too much). Taipei apparently had a 'lacklustre' feeling - not up to HK standard.

Cheers

PeteB,
thanks for that. Yes I gather Taipei is a little dull but other parts of the island are supposed to be worth a visit - maybe oneday. Perhaps its different on business, I've got a mate who thought Bangkok was dull after spending a week on business there. Mind you I have done business in KL still found it interesting :)

We used Singapore Airlines for our trip to Bali...I think maybe I expected too much of them as everybody hyped them up at the time.

Hi everyone

It seems that a few Goan lovers are trying diff holiday this year  . We are going to Bali in Sept with Singapore airlines and cant wait - no stopover on the way out but 3 nights in Singapore on way back, we did fly with them last October when we went to Vietnam and I can honestly say it was one of the best flight i've been on (and back) I'm only 5ft 3 but hubby 5.10 with long legs and he yeah you can never get enough leg room but he was quiet satisfied - maybe we have flown too much with Monach  , previously the best airline for us was Thai and Emirates

Regards Jules

Hi oap,

SIA Flights: LHR/SIN/DPS; Singapore stopover package (3 days hotel and transfers) and PS - Club room and private transfers all booked and then 'packaged' by Lees Travel (found them to be best price all round) http://www.leestravel.com

Phone and ask for Jasmine - very helpful

Peter

PS - off to Spain tonight so I'm not being rude if I don't post for a week
