We usually have some winter sun and decided on tenerife , we like 4 star , half board , and prefer small fishing village to noisy bar lined streets.
We like the look of Santiago hotel in barcelo , puerto de santiago.
The reports are good on it , and looks a nice place to chill out for two weeks in march.
Unless you know better! any ideas
Thanks in advance GT
Yep ideal to chill out not to busy re the entertainment scene but there's always TJ's in Los Gigantes. Across the road from the Barcelo there are a few eateries from Chinese to the pub lunch type and there is also a small supermarket type shop underneath the restaurants. The way in is down a fairly steep hill so it would not suit a person who has mobility problems. There is a bit of construction going on in front of the Tamiamo Tropical and a new shopping centre close to the Barcelo but this is almost finished so should pose no problem.
Have a good rest and come back and tell us all about it.

Ive read a few more reports on this hotel thats has put me of abit , they say it has stunning views , but the pool sunbathing area is to small , and you have to get towels down by 8.30 am because of the you know who's!! and it gets a bit cramped.
As out march holiday is a chill in the sun by the pool and read i think we are going to look elsewhere.

Another hotel to try if you like the look of Puerto de Santiago is the Los Dragos Sur hotel terrific rooms with views. Also next door is one of the best tapas bars on the island that I've come across it is called Bar Dorta. The distance between the two hotels is about a ten minute walk in the direction of Los Gigantes.
Here's a link to a map that shows the two hotels mentioned

Thanks a lot guys . ive booked through first choice not my fave company but best i could find.
I always book my first holiday to a new place through a travel company. So its 2 weeks at playa la arena from 7th march , cant wait now looks the perfect spot .
The map is very handy to , its nice to have an idea of the area saves time when you get there.

Excellent hotel, we've been twice before and have just booked for Christmas. I see it's just had it's No.1 rated hotel in the canaries spot on Tripadvisor taken by the also excellent Atlantis Palace in Fuerte.
Question for you Tom. When we were last there in 2003, at the bottom of the road that leads to the main entrance there was a half finished building. Looked like it might become a small shopping centre and had been left half finished for some time. Has anything happened to it ?

Hi Glad you had a great trip at Playa la Arena.
We are going on April 18th for a week and can't wait. Were there many children there, as I am going with my 5 year old and toddler and she can't wait for mini club and to make some friends.
Was the slide pool cold?
Any hints or anything we should know about to make our stay even more enjoyable.
Thanks

Iberostar Torvisacs Playa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Torviscas is a great hotel. Problem for us is the rooms only hold one child and the few larger rooms they have are all (noisy) street side.
Also, last time I was there the public areas, including the restaurant, were not air-conditioned. Is that still the case ?
